Yesterday. FROM LEARNING TO ACTION!
Day 3 marked a powerful conclusion to the “Coffee as a Business” Youth Seminar in Careysburg, Montserrado County—bringing together learning, reflection, action, and a renewed commitment to building Liberia’s coffee sector.
The day began with the young participants developing, writing, and submitting their personal action plans—turning the knowledge and inspiration gained throughout the seminar into practical steps they can take to explore and pursue opportunities within the coffee value chain.
We also toured ARJAY’s Coffee Factory, where participants gained further insight into coffee processing and had the opportunity to experience coffee tasting, appreciating the quality, diversity, and potential of Liberian coffee.

The seminar concluded with a strong commitment from key stakeholders to work together in creating more opportunities for young people in the coffee sector.
Representatives from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), International Trade Centre (ITC), Youth Entrepreneurs Network-Liberia (YEN-Liberia), Farmers Union Network Liberia (FUNL), and the Liberia Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (LACRA) made commitments to strengthen collaboration and support initiatives that will encourage more young people to enter, innovate, invest, and build sustainable businesses within Liberia’s coffee industry.
As YEN-Liberia, we are excited about the possibilities ahead. We believe that when young people are equipped with the right knowledge, networks, mentorship, market opportunities, and support, they can become powerful drivers of transformation in Liberia’s agricultural economy.
The seminar may be over, but the journey is just beginning.
Many thanks to the International Trade Centre, Farmers Union Network Liberia, and the European Union in Liberia for the invitation.
Thanks also to the CEO of ARJAY’S Farm Inc for the gift(Coffee) to everyone.
From Coffee as a Beverage to Coffee as a Business.

From Learning to Action.
From Potential to Opportunity.
Let’s build a stronger, more competitive and youth-driven coffee industry in Liberia.

Yesterday. DAY 2 | COFFEE AS A BUSINESS

Day 2 of the “Coffee as a Business” Youth Seminar in Careysburg, Montserrado County, was a powerful day of learning, practical exposure, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
We went deeper into Coffee Commodity Regulation in Liberia, exploring the opportunities and challenges within the sector, followed by group presentations on Coffee as a Business for Youth.

One of the highlights of the day was our visit to ARJAY’S Farm, where we had the opportunity to witness firsthand coffee processing techniques, quality management, practical processing demonstrations, and a tour of the coffee processing facility. Seeing the journey from the farm to a marketable product reinforced an important lesson: there is business at every stage of the coffee value chain.

We also explored the possibilities of coffee diversification through an insightful presentation by the CEO of Brisco Inc., challenging us to think beyond the traditional cup of coffee and ask: What else can we create with coffee?
The day concluded with an exciting group pitching session, where young participants presented innovative coffee business ideas developed from the lessons and experiences of the seminar.

Yesterday. The President of the Youth Entrepreneurs Network-Liberia honored an invitation from the International Trade Centre (ITC) and Farmers Union Network Liberia (FUNL) to serve as a Special Guest and to participate in the "Coffee as a Business" Youth Seminar ongoing in Careysburg, Monsterrado County under the EU-ACP Support to Business-Friendly Coffee Programme, from August 17-19, 2026.
The EU-ACP Support to Business-Friendly Coffee Programme is implemented by ITC, FUNL and Ministry of Agriculture. The project seeks to revitalize Liberia's coffee sector by strengthening production systems, promoting value addition, and enhancing the competitiveness of Liberian coffee. As part of these efforts, the programme recognizes the critical role of young people in ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of the coffee industry.
During the opening ceremony, the President made Special remarks on behalf of YEN-LIBERIA. During his remarks, he appreciated the International Trade Centre, the European Union in Liberia and the Farmers Union Network Liberia for the invitation. He used the occasion inspire young people at the event to see coffee as a business and not just a beverage or an ordinary drink.
He encouraged the participants that coffee is a huge global economic product and the second most traded physical commodity in the world. Beyond a simple morning drink, it supports a complex multi-billion-dollar value chain spanning agriculture, international shipping, advanced manufacturing, and social retail experiences.

The President was accompanied by the CEO of Jere's Gari, Jerena Binda and the CEO of Faith Natural Juice, Dwah Faith Massaquoi.
