The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and funding from the UN Peacebuilding Fund, held a two-day training to strengthen accountability, transparency and integrity among County Council members, County Service Center personnels and Civil Society Organizations from Nimba, B**g, Margibi and Lofa Counties.

The training was held in Gbarnga, B**g County under the project theme “Empowering citizens and communities to foster social accountability and transparency in governance and public service delivery.” The training was conducted to strengthen coordination among local institutions and equip participants with the knowledge to promote accountability and prevent corruption at the county level.

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has renewed its call for stronger collaboration between investigators and prosecutors to improve the handling of corruption cases and strengthen the administration of justice.

Representing Executive Chairperson Cllr. Alexandra K. Zoe at the opening of the Ministry of Justice’s three-day Quarterly Prosecutors’ Training Workshop in Grand Bassa County, LACC Commissioner for Prosecution Cllr. Oretha Snyder Davis highlighted the importance of continuous professional development in strengthening prosecutorial practice and upholding the rule of law.

The workshop, which concluded on Wednesday, brought together prosecutors from across the country to enhance their legal knowledge, strengthen prosecutorial skills, and promote greater coordination within Liberia’s justice sector.

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) held a validation meeting on the draft Corruption Risk Assessment (CRA) report for the Cooperative Development Agency (CDA) on July 30, 2026.

The Corruption Risk Assessment is a preventive exercise that examines an institution's policies, procedures, and day-to-day operations to identify areas that may be vulnerable to corruption. The goal is to recommend practical measures that strengthen internal controls, improve accountability, and reduce opportunities for corruption before they occur.

The assessment at the CDA began with a detailed review of the institution's operational processes, policies, and procedures.The findings were compiled into a draft report containing recommendations to address identified weaknesses and strengthen the institution's systems.

The validation meeting was attended by senior management, and department heads of the CDA, and technical staff from LACC to review the draft report, verify the accuracy of its findings, and agree on recommendations before the report is finalized. The exercise also provided the CDA with an opportunity to clarify issues raised during the assessment and ensure the final report reflects its operational realities.

This Corruption Risk Assessment forms part of the Commission's prevention mandate under Part IV, Section 5(h) of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission Act of 2022, which empowers the LACC to examine the practices and procedures of public institutions and recommend measures that reduce opportunities for corruption.

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has officially welcomed Hon. Arthur W. B. Fumbah as Vice Executive Chairperson following a turnover ceremony held at the Commission’s headquarters on Friday, July 24, 2026.

During the ceremony, Executive Chairperson Cllr. Alexandra K. Zoe presented the Instrument of Office to Hon. Fumbah and urged him to uphold the Commission’s core values of integrity, transparency, and accountability, expressing confidence in his ability to strengthen public trust and advance the LACC’s anti-corruption mandate.

Outgoing Vice Executive Chairperson Hon. Ernest R. Hughes congratulated Hon. Fumbah on his appointment and encouraged him to remain courageous, steadfast, and committed to integrity in the fight against corruption. He also pledged his continued support to the Commission whenever needed.

In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Arthur W. B. Fumbah expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to foster teamwork, consultation, and collaboration. He called on staff to remain united in advancing the Commission’s mission and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in service to the Liberian people.

The ceremony also featured goodwill remarks from family members, friends, and invited guests, who congratulated Hon. Fumbah and wished him success in his new role.

LACC Concludes Nationwide Public Education Campaign in Grand Cape Mount County

On July 23, 2026, the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) concluded its Nationwide Public Education Campaign in Grand Cape Mount County, continuing its efforts to raise public awareness and strengthen citizen participation in the fight against corruption.

Following the successful launch of the campaign in Bopolu City, Gbarpolu County, the Commission’s outreach team engaged communities across Grand Cape Mount, educating citizens on the causes and effects of corruption, the LACC’s mandate, and the important role every Liberian plays in promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity.

The engagement brought together local government officials, civil society organizations, traditional and religious leaders, women and youth groups, students, members of the judiciary, the County Health and Education Teams, and other stakeholders. Participants demonstrated a shared commitment to protecting public resources and supporting the national fight against corruption.

Through its Nationwide Public Education Campaign, the LACC continues to empower citizens with the knowledge needed to recognize, prevent, and report corruption while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability throughout Liberia.
