The workshops focused on the rollout of the Second Edition of the One Health Governance Manual, a key instrument for strengthening coordination and operationalizing the One Health approach in Liberia. The workshops also provided a platform for participants to deepen their understanding of the One Health approach, clarify coordination roles, and identify practical mechanisms for strengthening multisectoral collaboration at the county level.

A woman identified as Paola N. Bedell has been turned over to the Liberia National Police for investigation in connection with an audio message circulated on social media containing false and misleading claims alleging that health authorities were concealing Ebola patients in Liberia.

Paola N. Bedell is suspected of being linked to the creation and/or dissemination of the audio recording.

Health authorities have repeatedly clarified that there are currently no suspected, probable or confirmed Ebola cases in Liberia and continue to urge the public to rely on verified information from official public health sources.

The spread of unverified health information can create unnecessary fear, panic, and misinformation among the public, particularly during ongoing regional health surveillance efforts.

Delivering remarks at the ceremony, Mr. Advertus Nyan Mianah, National Coordinator of the Liberia One Health Coordination Platform, called for strengthened cross-sectoral coordination to preserve and protect Liberia’s biodiversity.

He emphasized that medicinal and aromatic plants are not only ecological assets but also vital to public health, traditional knowledge systems, and rural economies. He urged stakeholders to deepen collaboration between human, animal and environmental health sectors in line with the One Health approach – recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.

National data from the 𝐌𝐩𝐨𝐱 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 (𝐈𝐌𝐒) indicate a decline in active Mpox cases, decreasing to 𝟑𝟖 𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, down from 𝟔𝟐 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

During the reporting period (February 5–9, 2026), 𝐨𝐧𝐞 (𝟏) 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐩𝐨𝐱 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 was recorded nationwide. Males account for 𝟔𝟎.𝟐𝟔% of all confirmed cases.

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞:

✅ Practice regular hand hygiene with soap and clean water or alcohol-based sanitizer
✅ Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms such as rash or fever
✅ Report suspected cases promptly to the nearest health facility
✅ Follow guidance from health authorities and get vaccinated

Since the onset of the Mpox outbreak in 2024, Liberia has recorded 𝟏,𝟔𝟏𝟗 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝟏,𝟓𝟓𝟐 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟖 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬.

Current Incident Management System (IMS) data indicates 𝟓𝟗 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 nationwide.

As part of the national response, vaccination efforts are ongoing, with 𝟒𝟎,𝟎𝟑𝟐 individuals vaccinated to date.
