The Rotary Club of Trincomalee and Rotary Club of Colombo South, with the support of the Eastern Provincial Council, invite Eastern Province government officials to a practical awareness session:

Sale of Vehicles and Machinery: Invitation for Bids

The Chief Secretary's Secretariat, Eastern Province, invites bids for the sale of 30 vehicles and items of machinery removed from service by the Eastern Provincial Council.

Bid documents: 8 to 29 October 2026, 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, from the office of the Deputy Chief Secretary (Engineering Services and Infrastructure), Kanniya Road, Varothayanagar, Trincomalee, on a written request and a non-refundable fee of Rs. 2,000 per item.
Inspection: 8 to 29 October 2026, working days, 9.30 am to 3.00 pm, at the places listed in the notice.
Sealed bids to: the Chairman, Chief Secretary's Procurement Committee, Kanniya Road, Varothayanagar, Trincomalee, by 9.00 am on 30 October 2026. Bids are opened immediately after closing.

REVIVE Project: Recruitment of Project Staff

The Eastern Provincial Council invites applications for the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Eastern Province, of the World Bank funded Regional Empowerment through Vibrant, Inclusive and Viable Economies (REVIVE) Project. In the Eastern Province the project covers the Arugam Bay and Pasikuda tourism clusters and the Cod Bay fisheries harbour cluster.

Contract, full time (applications close 23 October 2026): Specialist (Monitoring and Evaluation), Engineer, Senior Administrative Officer, Project Officer (Financial Management), Office Assistant, Driver.

Acting, part time, for officers serving in the Eastern Provincial Council (applications close 20 October 2026): Provincial Project Director, Finance Management Specialist, Procurement Officer, Town Planner.

Apply by registered post to the Chief Secretary, Chief Secretary's Secretariat, Varothaya Nagar, Kanniya, Trincomalee, with a CV, certified copies of educational, professional and experience certificates, and two non-related referees. Applicants in government or semi-government service apply through their Head of Department. Age limit: 62 years at the closing date.

Mission Day: Eastern Province IT Volunteer Programme

The first selection day of the Eastern Province IT Volunteer Programme was held on 6 October 2026 at the Office of the Chief Secretary, Eastern Province, at the Secretariat, Trincomalee.

The Chief Secretary met the volunteers. Instead of a traditional interview, each volunteer introduced themselves, took on a practical task, built a working solution during the day, and presented it to the panel.

The programme brings young people from the province together to help build the province's digital services.

SCOS Pro pilot launched at the Chief Secretary's Office

The pilot of SCOS Pro (Smart Cloud Operating System) was launched on 1 October 2026 at the Office of the Chief Secretary, Eastern Province, at the Secretariat, Trincomalee.

Developed and provided by Quantum Plus, the system enables the office to handle files, letters and approvals digitally, as a first step towards digitalisation.
