Meaning of the Buddhist Flag 🙏

The six vertical bands of the flag represent the six colors of the aura which Buddhists believe emanated from the body of the Buddha when he attained Enlightenment:[6][1]

Blue (Nīla): The Spirit of Universal Compassion

Yellow (Pīta): The Middle Way

Red (Lohita): The Blessings of Practice – achievement, wisdom, virtue, fortune and dignity

White (Odāta): The Purity of Dhamma – leading to liberation, timeless

Orange (Manjesta): The Wisdom of the Buddha's teachings

The sixth vertical band, on the fly, is made up of a combination of rectangular bands of the five other colours, and represents a compound of the other five colours in the aura's spectrum. This compound colour is referred to as the Truth of the Buddha's teaching Pabbhassara ('essence of light').

හීනෙන් පවා නුඹ ගැන
හිත හොයන තරම්
දෑත දෙපය නොකඩා

පවුලක් වෙලා නුඹ

වයසක අම්මා නැතිදෝ
දැන් නුඹේ හිතේ..
හයියක් නොවේ වැහැරුනු
මේ දුබල ගතේ
බලා යන්න නාවත්
නුඹ තරහා නැතේ

මහළු මඩමේ මා තනිකර
නුඹ ගිය දවසේ ඉදලා
නිතර අනේ මඟ බැලුවා
පුතේ නුඹත් එයි කියලා
කඳුළු පිරුනු දෑස් අගට
නුඹේ මතක ඇත පිරිලා
තාමත් මේ හිතේ නුඹට
ආදරේ නම් නෑ බිඳිලා

කටට රහට කැවිලි ටිකක්
මුනුපුරන්ට හදලා දෙන්න
පොඩි කාලේ වගේ නුඹට
කිරිබත් රස කර කවන්න
ගොඩ දවසක් ඔනේ නෑ
අවුරුදු දවසෙම හිඳින්න
පුලුවන් නම් ඇවිත් පුතේ
අම්මව එක්කරන් යන්න

Happy birthday to Maria Branyas Morera who celebrates her 117th birthday today 🥳️

She was verified as the world’s oldest person back in January 2023 🎂

Maria was born on 4 March 1907 in San Francisco, USA, but returned to Spain with her family when she was eight to settle in Catalonia.

She’s lived in the region ever since and has resided in the same nursing home for the past 23 years.
