The Voice of Plantation People Organization (VOPP) successfully conducted 2nd one-day awareness workshop for selected media personnel in the Matara District on the Malaiyaha Tamil community on 23. 04.2026 in Matara.

The workshop focused on key areas such as: who the Malaiyaha people are, their historical background, the challenges they currently face, and the level of social recognition they receive. It also aimed to identify ways of gaining media support in addressing these issues and to explore strategies for effectively highlighting the concerns of the Malaiyaha community.

பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பினால் (VOPP) மலையகத் தமிழர் சமூகத்தைப் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வு ஒருநாள் செயலமர்வு ஒன்று 2026.04.23 அன்று மாத்தறை மாவட்டத்தில் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட ஊடகவியலாளர்களுக்காக மாத்தறையில் வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்தப்பட்டது.

இந்த செயலமர்வில் மலையக மக்கள் யார், அவர்களின் வரலாற்றுப் பின்னணி என்ன, அவர்கள் தற்போதைய காலத்தில் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சவால்கள் என்ன, சமூகத்தில் அவர்களுக்கு கிடைக்கும் அங்கீகாரம் என்ன போன்ற முக்கிய அம்சங்கள் கவனத்திற்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டன. மேலும், இந்த பிரச்சினைகளுக்கு தீர்வு காணும் பணியில் ஊடகங்களின் ஆதரவை எவ்வாறு பெறுவது மற்றும் மலையக மக்களின் பிரச்சினைகளை சிறப்பாக வெளிப்படுத்துவதற்கான நடைமுறைகள் என்ன என்பதையும் ஆராய்வது முக்கிய நோக்கங்களாக இருந்தது.

වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානය විසින් මලෛයහම් දෙමළ ජනතාව පිළිබඳව මාතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ තෝරාගත් මාධ්‍යවේදීන් දැනුවත් කිරීම සඳහා එක්දින වැඩමුළුවක් 2026.04.23 දින මාතරදි සාර්ථකව පවත්වන ලදී.

මෙහිදී “මලෛයහම් ජනතාව යනු කවුරුන්ද?”, “ඔවුන්ගේ ඉතිහාසය කුමක්ද?”, “වර්තමානයේ ඔවුන් මුහුණ දෙන ගැටලු මොනවාද?”, “සමාජයේ ඔවුන්ට ලැබෙන පිළිගැනීම කුමක්ද?” යන කරුණු පිළිබඳව අවධානය යොමු කරන ලදී. එමෙන්ම, මලෛයහම් ජනතාවගේ ගැටලුවලට විසඳුම් සෙවීමේදී මාධ්‍ය සහයෝගය ලබා ගැනීම සහ ඔවුන්ගේ ගැටලු වඩාත් ප්‍රචාරය කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ක්‍රියාමාර්ග හඳුනා ගැනීමද මෙම වැඩමුළුවේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණු ලෙස සලකා බැලුණි.

The Voice of Plantation People Organization (VOPP) successfully conducted a one-day awareness workshop for selected media personnel in the Galle District on the Malaiyaha Tamil community on 22.04.2026 at the Aradhana Hotel, Galle.

The workshop focused on key areas such as: who the Malaiyaha people are, their historical background, the challenges they currently face, and the level of social recognition they receive. It also aimed to identify ways of gaining media support in addressing these issues and to explore strategies for effectively highlighting the concerns of the Malaiyaha community. The objectives of the workshop were clearly outlined by Ms. Lavinia Hasanthi, Programme Director of VOPP, during her opening remarks.

Mr. V. Veerasingham served as the resource person for the session, providing clear and in-depth explanations on the above topics. In addition, Mr. Anthony Jesudasan, Executive Director of VOPP, elaborated on the current situation of the Malaiyaha community, the initiatives being implemented by the organization on their behalf, and the type of support expected from media professionals.

The programme was supported by Mr. Francis Rajan, National Programme Coordinator of VOPP, and Ms. K. Harshani, District Coordinator for Galle.

The participating journalists expressed that the workshop was a highly valuable experience, noting that it helped them gain a deeper understanding of the Malaiyaha community and the hardships they face in their daily lives.

பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பினால் (VOPP) மலையகத் தமிழர் சமூகத்தைப் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வு ஒருநாள் செயலமர்வு ஒன்று 2026.04.22 அன்று காலி மாவட்டத்தில் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட ஊடகவியலாளர்களுக்காக காலி ஆராதனா ஹோட்டலில் வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்தப்பட்டது.

இந்த செயலமர்வில் மலையக மக்கள் யார், அவர்களின் வரலாற்றுப் பின்னணி என்ன, அவர்கள் தற்போதைய காலத்தில் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சவால்கள் என்ன, சமூகத்தில் அவர்களுக்கு கிடைக்கும் அங்கீகாரம் என்ன போன்ற முக்கிய அம்சங்கள் கவனத்திற்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டன. மேலும், இந்த பிரச்சினைகளுக்கு தீர்வு காணும் பணியில் ஊடகங்களின் ஆதரவை எவ்வாறு பெறுவது மற்றும் மலையக மக்களின் பிரச்சினைகளை சிறப்பாக வெளிப்படுத்துவதற்கான நடைமுறைகள் என்ன என்பதையும் ஆராய்வது இப்பயிற்சியின் முக்கிய நோக்கங்களாக இருந்தது. இந்நோக்கங்களை VOPP அமைப்பின் திட்ட இயக்குநர் திருமதி லவீனா ஹசந்தி அவர்கள் தமது தொடக்க உரையில் விளக்கமாக எடுத்துரைத்தார்.

இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியின் வளவாளராக திரு. வி. வீரசிங்கம் அவர்கள் குறிப்பிடப்பட்ட தலைப்புகளை எளிமையாகவும் ஆழமாகவும் விளக்கினார். மேலும், VOPP அமைப்பின் நிர்வாக இயக்குநர் திரு. அன்டனி ஜேசுதாஸன் அவர்கள் மலையக மக்களின் தற்போதைய நிலை, அவர்களுக்காக அமைப்பு மேற்கொண்டு வரும் செயல்பாடுகள் மற்றும் ஊடகங்களிடமிருந்து எதிர்பார்க்கப்படும் ஆதரவு குறித்து விரிவாக விளக்கினார்.

இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியை வெற்றிகரமாக செயல்படுத்துவதில் VOPP அமைப்பின் தேசிய திட்ட ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் திரு. பிரான்சிஸ் ராஜன் மற்றும் காலி மாவட்ட ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் திருமதி கே. ஹர்ஷனி ஆகியோர் ஒத்துழைப்பளித்தனர்.

இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்து கொண்ட ஊடகவியலாளர்கள், இது மிகவும் பயனுள்ள அனுபவமாக இருந்ததுடன், மலையக மக்களின் வாழ்க்கை நிலை மற்றும் அவர்கள் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சிரமங்கள் குறித்து ஆழமான புரிதலை பெற்றதாக தெரிவித்தனர்.

වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානය විසින් මලෛයහම් දෙමළ ජනතාව පිළිබඳව ගාල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ තෝරාගත් මාධ්‍යවේදීන් දැනුවත් කිරීම සඳහා එක්දින වැඩමුළුවක් 2026.04.22 දින ගාල්ල ආරාධනා හෝටලයේදී සාර්ථකව පවත්වන ලදී.

මෙම වැඩසටහනේ සම්පත්දායකයා ලෙස කටයුතු කළ V. වීරසිංහම් මහතා ඉහත කරුණු සරලව හා ගැඹුරින් පැහැදිලි කළේය. එසේම, වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානයේ විධායක අධ්‍යක්ෂක ඇන්තනි ජේසුදාසන් මහතා මලෛයහම් ජනතාවගේ වර්තමාන තත්ත්වය, ඔවුන් වෙනුවෙන් සංවිධානය විසින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලබන වැඩසටහන් සහ මාධ්‍යවේදීන්ගෙන් අපේක්ෂිත සහය පිළිබඳව විස්තර කළේය.

මෙම වැඩසටහන සාර්ථකව ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම සඳහා වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානයේ ජාතික වැඩසටහන් සම්බන්ධිකාරක ෆ්‍රැන්සිස් රාජන් මහතා සහ ගාල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික් සම්බන්ධිකාරක කේ. හර්ෂනි මහත්මිය සහය ලබා දුන්හ.

වැඩමුළුවට සහභාගි වූ මාධ්‍යවේදීන් විසින් මෙම වැඩසටහන ඉතා වැදගත් සහ අර්ථවත් අත්දැකීමක් බවත්, මලෛයහම් ජනතාවගේ ජීවිත තත්ත්වය හා ඔවුන් මුහුණ දෙන දුෂ්කරතා පිළිබඳව ගැඹුරු අවබෝධයක් ලබා ගැනීමට හැකි වූ බවත් සඳහන් කළහ.

பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பின் சிகரம் மாவட்ட மலையக பெண்கள் சம்மேளனக் கூட்டம் 2026 ஏப்ரல் 19 ஆம் தேதி வெற்றிகரமாக நடைபெற்றது.

இக்கூட்டத்தின் போது, மாத்தறை மாவட்டத்தில் வாழும் மலையகப் பெண்கள் தற்போது எதிர்கொள்ளும் சவால்கள், அவற்றை சமாளிக்க முன்னெடுக்கப்பட வேண்டிய முக்கிய நடவடிக்கைகள், பெண்கள் சம்மேளனத்தின் அவசியம் மற்றும் வலுப்படுத்தல், மேலும் பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பின் செயற்பாடுகள் குறித்து விரிவான மற்றும் ஆழமான கலந்துரையாடல்கள் இடம்பெற்றன.

அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து, 2026 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான புதிய நிர்வாகத் தேர்வு முறையாக நடைபெற்று நிறைவு பெற்றது.
இந்தக் கூட்டத்திற்கு பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பின் திட்ட இயக்குநரும் பெண்கள் திட்டப் பொறுப்பாளருமான லவீனா ஹஸன்தி வழிகாட்டுதலை வழங்கினார். கள முகாமையாளர் என்டன் வனத்தையா கூட்டத்திற்கான அனைத்து ஏற்பாடுகளையும் திறம்பட மேற்கொண்டார். மேலும், இளம் தொண்டர்கள் நிகழ்வின் சிறப்பான முன்னேற்றத்திற்கு தங்களது உறுதுணையை வழங்கினர்.

சுமார் 40 பெண்கள் உற்சாகத்துடன் கலந்துகொண்டு, மலையகப் பெண்களாகிய தாங்கள் சமூகத்தின் அனைத்து துறைகளிலும் முன்னிலையில் செயல்பட வேண்டிய அவசியத்தை வலியுறுத்தினர்.

වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානයේ සිගරම් දිස්ත්‍රික් මලෛයහ කාන්තා සම්මේලනය ( මාතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කය) රැස්වීම 2026 අප්‍රේල් 19 වන දින දෙනියායේදි සාර්ථකව පැවැත්විණි.

මෙම රැස්වීමේදී මාතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ ජීවත්වන මලයහ කාන්තාවන් වර්තමානයේ මුහුණ දෙන ගැටලු, ඒවාට විසඳුම් ලබා ගැනීම සඳහා ගත යුතු ප්‍රධාන ක්‍රියාමාර්ග, කාන්තා සම්මේලනයේ වැදගත්කම සහ එය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම, එසේම වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානයේ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් පිළිබඳව ගැඹුරු සහ විස්තරාත්මක සංවාද පැවැත්විණි.

ඉන් අනතුරුව, 2026 වසර සඳහා නව නිලධාරි මණ්ඩලය තෝරා ගැනීම ද නිසි පරිදි සිදු කර අවසන් කරන ලදී.

මෙම රැස්වීමට වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානයේ වැඩසටහන් අධ්‍යක්ෂිකාව සහ කාන්තා වැඩසටහන් භාර ලවීනා හසන්ති මහත්මිය මඟපෙන්වීම ලබා දුන්නාය. ක්ෂේත්‍ර කළමනාකරු ඇන්ටන් වනත්තයියා මහතා විසින් සියලු සංවිධාන කටයුතු කාර්යක්ෂමව සිදු කරන ලද අතර, තරුණ ස්වේච්ඡා සේවකයින් ද මෙම අවස්ථාව සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමට තම සහයෝගය ලබා දුන්නාහ.

කාන්තාවන් 40 දෙනෙකු උද්යෝගයෙන් සහභාගී වී, මලයහ කාන්තාවන් ලෙස සමාජයේ සියලු ක්ෂේත්‍රවල ඉදිරියට පැමිණ ක්‍රියාත්මක වීමේ වැදගත්කම අවධාරණය කළහ.

The meeting of the Sikaram District Malaiyaha Women’s Federation, organized by the Voice of the Plantation People Organization, was successfully held on 19 April 2026 in Deniyaya.

During the meeting, in-depth discussions were conducted on the challenges currently faced by Malaiyaha women in the Matara District, the key actions required to address these issues, the importance and strengthening of the Women’s Federation, and the ongoing work of the Voice of the Plantation People Organization.

Following the discussions, the selection of the new office bearers for the year 2026 was duly carried out and concluded.

The session was guided by Lavina Hasanthi, Program Director and Women’s Program Officer of the Voice of the Plantation People Organization. Field Manager Anton Wanaththaiya efficiently handled all organizational arrangements, while young volunteers extended their valuable support to ensure the success of the event.

Approximately 40 women participated with enthusiasm and emphasized the importance of Malaiyaha women taking an active and leading role across all sectors of society.

Awareness program on Digital Democracy for Malaiyaha community
மலையக மக்களுக்கான டிஜிட்டல் ஜனநாயகம் தொடர்பான விழிப்புணர்வு.
මලෛයහම් ජනතාව සදහා ඩිජිටල් ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය පිළිබද දැනුවත්කිරීම.

On 22nd March 2026, the Voice of the Plantation People Organization (VOPP) successfully conducted a one-day training program on Digital Democracy for selected Malaiyaha parents, teachers, and youth in the Mathara District.
During the program, discussions focused on why digital democracy knowledge is essential for the Malaiyaha community, the benefits that can be gained through digital democracy, and both the positive and negative impacts of digital technologies. Participants were also made aware of how to use digital tools safely and responsibly.
The resource contribution for this training was provided by Mr. Selvaraj Rajasekar, Editor of the Matram website.
Mr. A Wanaththaiya, Field Manager of the Voice of the Plantation People Organization, Ms. Lavina Hasanthi, Program Manager, and Mr. Anthony Jesudasan, Executive Director, facelifted in the program.
The participants actively engaged in the session by sharing real-life issues they face in their daily lives within the plantation communities, demonstrating strong interest and participation throughout the program.

පසුගිය කාලයේ ඇති වූ 'ටිඩ්වා' (Ditwha) සුළි කුණාටුවෙන් පීඩාවට පත්ව, වර්තමානයේ දැඩි ආර්ථික දුෂ්කරතාවලින් පෙළෙන මාතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ, කොටපොළ ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාසයට අයත් අල්පදෙණිය වතුයායේ ජනතාව හමුවීමට "වැවිලි ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ ජනතාවගේ හඬ" (Voice of the Plantation People Organization - VOPP ) සංවිධානයේ නියෝජිතයින් පසුගිය 2026.04.19 වන දින පියවර ගත්හ.

මෙම හමුවේදී එම ජනතාවගේ වත්මන් ජීවනෝපාය තත්ත්වයන් සහ ඉදිරි ක්‍රියාමාර්ග පිළිබඳව දීර්ඝ වශයෙන් සාකච්ඡා කෙරුණු අතර, පීඩාවට පත් පවුල් සඳහා වියළි ආහාර පාර්සල් බෙදා දීම ද සිදු විය.

මීට අමතරව, දිට්වා සුළි කුණාටුව හේතුවෙන් ගසක් කඩා වැටී නිවස සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම විනාශ වූ හුලංදාව ප්‍රදේශයේ පවුලක් සඳහා නිවසේ වහලයට අවශ්‍ය සීට් (Roofing Sheets) ලබා දීමට ද එම සංවිධානය කටයුතු කළේය.

பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பினர், கடந்த காலத்தில் ஏற்பட்ட டிட்வா புயலால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு தற்போது பொருளாதார நெருக்கடியில் வாழ்ந்து வரும் மாத்தறை மாவட்டத்தின் கொடபொல பிரதேச செயலகப் பிரிவிற்குட்பட்ட அல்ப்பதென்ன தோட்ட மக்களை 2026.04.19 அன்று சந்தித்து கலந்துரையாடினர்.

இச்சந்திப்பின் போது, அவர்களின் தற்போதைய வாழ்க்கை நிலைமைகள் மற்றும் எதிர்கால நடவடிக்கைகள் தொடர்பாக விரிவாக ஆய்வு செய்யப்பட்டது. மேலும், பாதிக்கப்பட்ட குடும்பங்களுக்கு உலர் உணவு பொதிகளும் வழங்கப்பட்டன.

அதேவேளை, டிட்வா புயலினால் மரம் விழுந்து முழுமையாக வீடு சேதமடைந்த ஹுளந்தாவ பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு குடும்பத்திற்கு வீட்டுக் கூரைக்கான சீட்டுகளும் வழங்கி வைக்கப்பட்டன.

On April 19, 2026, representatives from the "Voice of Plantation People Organization organization' met with the residents of the Alpanthenna Estate in the Kotapola Divisional Secretariat division of the Matara district. These residents, who were severely affected by the past Ditwha cyclone, are currently facing significant economic hardships.

During the meeting, an in-depth assessment was conducted regarding their current living conditions and future recovery plans. As an relief measure, dry ration packs were distributed to the affected families.

Furthermore, the organization provided roofing sheets to a family in the Hulandawa estate, whose home was completely destroyed after a tree fell on it during the Ditwha cyclone.

වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානය මගින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද ගාල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික් "ඉමයම්ම" ලෛයහම් කාන්තා සම්මේලනය ප්‍රතිසංවිධානය කිරීමේ විශේෂ වැඩසටහන 2026 අප්‍රේල් 18 වන දින ගාල්ලේදී සාර්ථකව පවත්වන ලදී.

මෙම වැඩසටහන වතුකරයේ ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානයේ වැඩසටහන් ප්‍රධානි හා කාන්තා වැඩසටහන් භාර ලවීනා හසන්ති මහත්මිය සහ ගාල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික් සම්බන්ධීකාරක කේ. හර්ෂනී මෙනවිය විසින් මෙහෙයවන ලදී. එමෙන්ම, සංවිධානයේ විධායක අධ්‍යක්ෂ ඇන්තනි ජේසුදාසන් මහතා විසින් කාන්තා සම්මේලනයේ ඉදිරි වර්ධනය හා එහි වැදගත්කම පිළිබඳව විශේෂ දේශනයක් පවත්වනු ලැබීය.

මෙහිදී වර්තමාන සමාජය තුළ මලෛයහ දෙමළ කාන්තාවන් මුහුණ දෙන අභියෝග සහ ගැටලු පිළිබඳව ගැඹුරින් සාකච්ඡා කෙරිණි. තම ජීවන තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව අදහස් දැක්වූ බොහෝ කාන්තාවන් අතිශය සංවේදී වෙමින් තම දුක්ගැනවිලි ඉදිරිපත් කළහ.

සිය මුතුන් මිත්තන්ගේ කාලයේ සිට අද දක්වාම එකම ලයින් කාමර තුළ කිසිදු යටිතල පහසුකම් නොමැතිව ජීවත් වීමට සිදුවීම පිලිබදව අදහස් ප්‍රකාශ කල අතර වර්තමානයේ ජලය නොමැතිව සහ වැසිකිලි පහසුකම් නොමැතිව පීඩා විඳින බව පැහැදිලි කරන ලදී.

සම්මේලනය අවසානයේදී, ඉදිරි මාස තුන සඳහා වූ විශේෂ වැඩ සැලසුමක් සකස් කෙරුණු අතර, සංවිධානයේ ඉදිරි කටයුතු ශක්තිමත්ව පවත්වාගෙන යාම සඳහා නව නිලධාරී මණ්ඩලයක් ද තෝරා පත් කර ගන්නා ලදී.

பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பினால் (VOPP) காலி மாவட்ட “இமயம்" மலையகப் பெண்கள் சம்மேளனத்தின் மறுசீரமைப்பு சிறப்பு நிகழ்ச்சி 2026 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 18 ஆம் தேதி காலியில் வெற்றிகரமாக நடைபெற்றது.

இந்நிகழ்ச்சி, அமைப்பின் திட்ட பிரதானியும் பெண்கள் திட்டப் பொறுப்பாளருமான லவீனா ஹசந்தி அவர்கள் மற்றும் காலி மாவட்ட ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் கே. ஹர்ஷனி அவர்கள் தலைமையில் வழி நடத்தப்பட்டது. மேலும், அமைப்பின் நிறைவேற்று இயக்குநர் அன்டனி ஜேசுதாஸன் அவர்கள் பெண்கள் சம்மேளனத்தின் எதிர்கால வளர்ச்சி மற்றும் அதன் முக்கியத்துவம் குறித்து சிறப்பு உரையாற்றினார்.

இதன்போது, தற்போதைய சமூகத்தில் மலையகத் தமிழ் பெண்கள் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சவால்கள் மற்றும் பிரச்சினைகள் குறித்து ஆழமான கலந்துரையாடல் இடம்பெற்றது. தங்களது வாழ்க்கை நிலைமைகள் குறித்து கருத்து பகிர்ந்த பல பெண்கள் உணர்ச்சிவசப்பட்டு தங்களது துயரங்களை வெளிப்படுத்தினர்.

தங்களது மூதாதையர் காலத்திலிருந்து இன்றுவரை ஒரே ‘லைன்’ அறைகளில் அடிப்படை வசதிகள் இன்றி வாழ்ந்து வருவது குறித்து அவர்கள் சுட்டிக்காட்டினர். தற்போதும் தண்ணீர் மற்றும் கழிப்பறை வசதிகள் இல்லாமல் பெரும் சிரமங்களை எதிர்கொண்டு வருவதாகவும் அவர்கள் விளக்கினர்.

சம்மேளனத்தின் இறுதியில், அடுத்த மூன்று மாதங்களுக்கு சிறப்பு செயல் திட்டம் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டதுடன், அமைப்பின் எதிர்கால நடவடிக்கைகளை வலுப்படுத்த புதிய நிர்வாகக் குழுவும் தெரிவுசெய்யப்பட்டது.

“Reorganization of the Galle District "Imayam" Malaiyaham Women’s Federation”

The special program to reorganize the Galle District “Imayam" Malaiyaham” Women’s Federation, organized by the Voice of Plantation People Organization (VOPP), was successfully held in Galle on April 18, 2026.

The program was led by the organization’s Programme Head and Women’s Programme Officer, Ms. Laveena Hasanthi, together with the Galle District Coordinator, Ms. K. Harshani. In addition, the Executive Director of the organization, Mr. Anthony Jesudasan, delivered a special address on the future development and importance of the Women’s Federation.

During the program, in-depth discussions were held on the challenges and issues faced by Malaiyaha Tamil women in the present society. Many women who shared their living conditions became emotional and expressed their hardships.

They highlighted that, from the time of their ancestors up to the present, they have been living in the same “line rooms” without basic facilities. It was also explained that they continue to face severe difficulties due to the lack of access to water and proper sanitation facilities.

At the end of the federation meeting, a special action plan for the next three months was prepared, and a new committee was appointed to strengthen the organization’s future activities.

பெருந்தோட்டத்துறை மக்கள் குரல் அமைப்பு இதற்கு முன்பு நடாத்திய மத நல்லிணக்கப் பயிற்சியில் கலந்து கொண்டகளுத்துறை மாவட்டம் மதுகம பிரதேசத்தைச் சேர்ந்த அறநெறி மற்றும் மறைப்பாடசாலை மாணவர்கள், இவ்வாறு தங்கள் குரலை ஒன்றிணைத்து, தற்போது நடைபெற்று வரும் யுத்தத்துக்கு எதிரான தங்களது சிந்தனைகளையும் அமைதிக்கான ஆழமான விருப்பத்தையும் வெளிப்படுத்தினர்.

අපගේ අනාගතය සාමයේ අතුරුදන්වී නොව, එහි සෙනෙහස තුළ සුවඳින් මල්විය යුතුය.

වතුකර ජනතා හඬ සංවිධානය (VOPP) විසින් මීට පෙර සංවිධානය කරන ලද ආගමික සම්මුතිය පිළිබඳ පුහුණුවකට සහභාගී වූ කළුතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ මතුගම ප්‍රදේශයේ මලෛයහ හිංදු සහ ක්‍රිස්තියානි දහම්පාසල්වල දරුවන් මෙලෙස එකමුතුවෙන් තම හඬ ඉදිරිපත් කළහ. ඔවුන් වර්තමානයේ සිදුවන යුද්ධයට විරුද්ධව තම අදහස් හා සාමය සඳහා ඇති ගැඹුරු කැමැත්ත ප්‍රකාශ කළහ.

Our future should blossom in the warmth of peace, not fade away in its absence.
We want to sing songs, not listen to the sounds of war and bombs.
Peace is our playground; war is our fear.
Books are enough for us; we do not need weapons.
Friends are enough for us; we do not need enemies.

Children from Malaiyaha Hindu and Christian religious schools in Mathugama in Kalutara district , who participated in a previous interfaith harmony training organized by the Plantation People’s Voice Organization (VOPP), raised their voices together in this way. They expressed their opposition to the ongoing war and their deep desire for peace.
