Devanagala - දෙවනගල

Devanagala - දෙවනගල Devanagala is a dome shaped rock located in the central part of Sri Lanka. It is a historical as well as a tourist attraction site in the region.

Devanagala is a 300 metres high rock, which is famous due to the presence of an ancient inscription and a Buddhist temple, which dates back to the era of King Parakramabahu (1153–1186). The rock is situated about 100km away from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The stony staircase and the fence constructed on the side, makes it easy for anybody to climb the rock. The top can be reached by foot w

ithin 45 minutes. The picturesque view from the top of the rock is, like a preview of the true beauty of hill country. The mountains, paddy fields, greeneries and the gentle breeze, freezes the mind of visitors. The temple on the top is further beautified by the bell shaped Stupa and a small lotus pond.
