A delegation from Uzbekistan recently met with Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General and CEO of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), to discuss launching direct air services between Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.
This initiative aims to enhance air connectivity, boost tourism, and positively impact the national economy by strengthening trade and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
The Uzbekistan delegation was led by Mr. Adil Miraza Khalmirzaev, Head of the Agents Department at Centrum Air, with Mr. Clive Shamal Fernando, Head of Network Planning of Centrum Air, also attending.
From CAASL, participants included Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa (Deputy Director General, Air Transport & Security Regulation), Capt. Lasantha Dahanayake (Deputy Director General, Flight Safety Regulation), and Mr. Asanga Liyanaarachchi (Director, Air Transport & Economic Regulation), Dr. Sumith De Silva, Head of Corporate Communication, represented AASL.
The meeting focused on facilitating the launch of air services and further strengthening aviation cooperation between Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan.
