"නියමිත තැන, නියමිත හැරවීමේ තීන්දුව ගන්න අපි කටයුතු කරනවා. නියමිත තැන නියමිත දිශාවට ගෙන යන්න අප එඩිතර වෙනවා. අපේ එඩිතර භාවය ඇඟෙන් මනින්න එපා. යුග ගණනකට ඈත ඉතිහාසයක් අපේ දේශපාලනයේ තිබෙනවා. නිශ්චිත තැනදී පැකිලීමකින් තොරව නිසි බරෙන් නිසි තීරණ ගැනීමට මේ පක්ෂයට, මේ ආණ්ඩුවට එඩිතරභාවයක් තිබෙනවා. අපේ ව්යාපාරය අපේ ආණ්ඩුව එක්ක විපක්ෂය අලගු තබන්නවත් සුදුසු නැහැ. අපි ව්යවහාරික බුද්ධියෙන් කටයුතු කරනවා. අප විසින්ම ගොඩනඟා තිබෙන සංකල්ප මත හිරවෙයි කියලා විපක්ෂය සිතුවා. ඒ නිසා ඩොලරය ඉහළ යයි, තෙල් පෝලිම් ඇති වෙයි කියා බලාපොරොත්තුවෙන් සිටියා. අපි ව්යවහාරික බුද්ධියෙන් පෝෂණය වූ දේශපාලන ව්යාපාරයක් නිසා එසේ වරද්දාගන්නේ නැහැ."
ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණේ 60 වැනි සංවත්සරයට එක්වෙමින්...
"We are ready to take decisions to turn this around. We are brave enough to take those decisions. Our bravery is not because of our size. We have a legacy of politics that spans eras. We have shown that this party, this government is brave enough, and will unhesitatingly take decisions with due deliberation when it is necessary. The opposition, does not even compare to this government and this party. We work with practical intelligence. The opposition speculated that we will be prisoners of our own ideological preferences. They speculated that will lead to a sharp depreciation of the rupee, that it will lead to fuel queues. We did not make those mistakes because we are not a dogmatic party, but one with practical intelligence."
