Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, Hon. Ali Sabry, met the Egyptian Foreign Minister H.E. Sameh Shoukry, on the sidelines of the Special Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh on the 29th of April 2024.
During the meeting, both ministers discussed bilateral relations and explored avenues for enhancing cooperation between Sri Lanka and Egypt in various fields, including trade, investment, tourism, and culture. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Minister Shoukry welcomed the resumption of the foreign political consultation mechanism between the ministries of the two countries, and stressed Egypt's interest in strengthening investment and trade relations between the two countries, and welcomed the interest of Sri Lankan companies to invest in Egypt in view of the positive developments witnessed by the investment climate in Egypt over the past years, and the investment opportunities and incentives that Egypt can offer to Sri Lankan investors.
Minister Sabry emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries and expressed Sri Lanka's commitment to deepening cooperation with Egypt across multiple sectors. Minister Shoukry echoed these sentiments and affirmed Egypt's readiness to bolster collaboration with Sri Lanka for the mutual benefit of both nations.
The meeting underscored the significance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement in advancing shared objectives and fostering closer ties between Sri Lanka and Egypt.
