SHARING THE JOY OF READING AT NOORI PRIMARY SCHOOL, HAMBANTOTA
Once again, we were delighted to visit Noori Primary School, Hambantota, this time accompanied by one of SLMA’s staunchest supporters, Sdri. Farah Dole and Rtd. Wing Commander Raza Noordeen.
Farah, Edrich and the Dole family generously donated a wonderful collection of children’s storybooks to the school, helping to enrich the library and, more importantly, inspire and nurture the young minds of the children at Noori Primary School.
The Sri Lanka Malay Association (SLMA) is deeply grateful to Farah, Edrich and the entire Dole family for their continued generosity and unwavering support of our initiatives.
May these books open many new worlds for the children, encourage a lifelong love of reading, and bring them many hours of learning and enjoyment.
Thank you, Farah and family, for always supporting SLMA and helping us make a difference. May Almighty Allah bless you and your family abundantly for your kindness and generosity. Aameen.

By the Grace of Almighty Allah, the Second Phase of Our Hari Raya Project is Complete! 🌿✨
Alhamdulillah! With the blessings of Almighty Allah (SWT), the second phase of the Sri Lanka Malay Association Women's Affairs Committee Hari Raya Project at the ALMUSLIMAATH Association has been successfully completed.
The residence, which was in a very poor state, has undergone a remarkable transformation. Professional painters were engaged to repaint the premises, while every aspect of the project was carefully planned, monitored, and coordinated by our Women's Affairs Committee under the leadership of Chairperson Hashmareen Bangsajayah, ably assisted by Secretary Ferozeya Jumat, Vice Chairpersons Shanaz Bohoran and Shafeena Fadjudeen, together with their dedicated team.
Over several days, they worked tirelessly on-site, supervising the work, cleaning and organizing the premises, setting up the rooms, and ensuring that every donated item was thoughtfully placed to create a clean, comfortable, and welcoming home for the women and girls residing there.
As part of this phase, the residents also received new bed linen, towels, mattresses, plastic cupboards, toiletries, and other essential items, all made possible through the generosity of our donors and well-wishers.
This project was not simply about renovating a building—it was about restoring dignity, comfort, and hope to the residents. The dedication, commitment, and attention to detail shown by the Women's Affairs Committee ensured that every contribution was put to its best possible use.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to all our generous donors and supporters whose kindness made this transformation possible. A special thank you to every member of the Women's Affairs Committee for your selfless service and countless hours of dedication. Your compassion and teamwork have made a lasting difference in the lives of those who call ALMUSLIMAATH home.
May Almighty Allah (SWT) accept every contribution, every act of service, and every prayer, and reward all those who supported this noble initiative with His endless blessings.
Jazakumullahu Khairan to everyone who made this project a success. 💚🤲

🌸 Hari Raya 2026 – Phase 1 🌸
The Sri Lanka Malay Association's Women's Affairs Committee, headed by Chairperson Hashmareen Bangsajayah, and ably assisted by Secretary Ferozeya Jumat and Vice Presidents Shanaz Bohoran and Shafeena Fadjudeen, organized a special Hari Raya celebration for the girls and women of the ALMUSLIMAATH Association for Women and Girls, Dehiwela.
As part of Phase 1 of this project, essential items requested by the home, including bed linen, mattresses, plastic cupboards, undergarments, gifts for each resident and helper, and sanitary pads generously sponsored by Hemas Healthcare Sector, were handed over.
The home accommodates 14 adults with special needs and 13 school-going children, and it was heartwarming to spend the evening with them. The residents were treated to a delicious feast, while the children enthusiastically participated in games and activities organized by the SLMA ladies, bringing smiles, laughter, and joy to all.
A heartfelt thank you to all our donors and well-wishers whose generous contributions made this project possible. Your kindness and support enabled us to fulfil the requirements of the home and bring happiness to these deserving women and children. May Almighty Allah bless you abundantly for your generosity and compassion.
A special thank you to Sdri Farah Dole for coordinating and collecting funds from donors in Melbourne and for her invaluable support towards the success of this project.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to Hemas Healthcare Sector for sponsoring the sanitary pads and supporting this worthy cause.
Last but certainly not least, a big thank you to our SLMA family for their unwavering support through contributions in cash and kind, and for taking the time to be present and share in the joy of this occasion. Your generosity, commitment, and spirit of service continue to make initiatives such as these possible. Together, we are able to touch lives, strengthen our community bonds, and uphold the values of compassion and caring that define the Sri Lanka Malay Association. May Almighty Allah reward each and every one of you abundantly.
Hari Raya is a time of sharing, caring, and remembering those in need, and we are grateful to have been able to celebrate this special occasion with the residents of ALMUSLIMAATH.
✨ Stay tuned for Phase 2 of this meaningful project.

Sup Tulang – A Cherished Hajj Qurban Tradition
Alhamdulillah, following the completion of the Hajj Qurban and the distribution of meat, the cherished tradition of Sup Tulang was carried out.
Members of the community came together to prepare this traditional dish, fostering the spirit of unity, friendship, and gratitude that accompanies the blessed days of Eid-ul-Adha. The warm and hearty bowl of Sup Tulang was enjoyed by all in an atmosphere of fellowship and togetherness.
We were delighted to have Mr. Khairul Iskandar, his family, and other officials of the Malaysian High Commission join us in enjoying Sup Tulang, adding to the warmth and spirit of the evening.

💧 Water for Life continues in Puttalam…
The Sri Lanka Malay Association is humbled to have initiated a Deep Well Project through its Social services committee, headed by Mr. Perry Jumat at the Primary School of Zahira College Puttalam, bringing clean and safe water to hundreds of children and staff.
This meaningful project was made possible through the generous funding support of Bantuan Foundation UK, whose contribution has now become a lifeline for an entire school community.
The heartfelt letter received from the Principal truly says it all. More than 1,650 children now have access to a reliable source of clean water throughout the day. The project has improved sanitation, hygiene, attendance, and created a healthier learning environment for the students. Most importantly, it has given teachers and children the peace of mind to focus on education without the daily struggle for water.
This deep well is not merely a water source — it is hope, dignity, health, and a better future for generations to come.
May Almighty Allah shower His blessings upon every donor, supporter, volunteer, and well-wisher who contributed towards this meritorious deed. May this act of sadaqah jariyah continue to benefit lives for many years ahead, Insha Allah. 🤲💙
