Today, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leprosy control in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰, the WHO Representative, Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav, together with the WHO team, met with the 笹川保健財団 Sasakawa Health Foundation (SHF) team, including President Dr Takahiro Nanri.

Discussions focused on aligning national priorities, programme implementation, and strategic direction for leprosy elimination. Key priorities included addressing stigma and discrimination, barriers to early diagnosis and treatment, strengthening community awareness, promoting social inclusion and reforming outdated legal provisions, including the Lepers Ordinance, in line with public health and human rights standards ⚖️

These engagements highlighted critical challenges in early detection, treatment adherence, stigma reduction, and disability prevention, reinforcing the urgency of sustained, coordinated, and people-centred action and need for strengthened community awareness towards a leprosy-free Sri Lanka 👥🫱🏽‍🫲🏾

சுகாதார அமைச்சு், தேசிய டெங்கு கட்டுப்பாட்டு பிரிவு மற்றும் இணை அமைப்புகளுடன் இணைந்து, டெங்கு பரவலைக்கட்டுப்படுத்தும் நோக்கில் ஜூன் 8 முதல் 10 வரை 12 மாவட்டங்களின் அதிக ஆபத்துள்ள சுகாதார வைத்திய அதிகாரி(MOH) பிரிவுகளில் சிறப்பு நுளம்பு கட்டுப்பாட்டு திட்டத்தை முன்னெடுக்கிறது.

இந்த ஆண்டில் மட்டும் 37,000-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட டெங்கு நோய் பதிவாகியுள்ள நிலையில், உடனடி மற்றும் கூட்டு முயற்சி மிகஅவசியமானதாகிறது.

டெங்கு தடுப்பில் சமூகங்களே முக்கிய பங்காற்றுகின்றன - சிறிய செயல்களால் பல உயிர்களை பாதுகாக்க முடியும்.

At the RGD to Digital Excellence Training Programme under the Joint Programme, WHO Representative to Sri Lanka, Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav highlighted, "The goal is to build a modern, efficient, secure, and citizen-centred civil registration system” 📱💪🏼

The initiative is implemented by the Government of and United Nations Sri Lanka SDG Fund, with funding from High Commission of Canada to Sri Lanka and Maldives, European Union in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, British High Commission Colombo, UN Peacebuilding and Peace Support & Joint SDG Fund and led by UNDP Sri Lanka & WHO Sri Lanka.
