Religious Observance on the Occasion of Sri Lanka’s 78th Independence Day
The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Jawatha Jummah Mosque organized a Religious Observance on the occasion of Sri Lanka’s 78th Independence Day on Wednesday, 4th February 2026, at the Jawatha Jummah Mosque.
The event was graced by Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs Hon.Muneer Mulaffar as the Chief Guest, and Hon. Vraie cally Balthazaar Mayer , Colombo as the Special Guest of Honour.
Chairman of the Wakf Board, Members of the Wakf Tribunal , distinguished Ulamas, government officials,trustees and Jamath members of the Jawatha Jummah Mosque, distinguished invitees,DMRCA Staff and other notable guests were also attended the program.

Two minutes of silence observed in memory of the members of the Armed Forces and Police who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s sovereignty and integrity.
