name is derived from the 'villu' or 'lakes' which are shallow depressions which fill with water. many of the villus are large and surrounded by sand dunes and grassland. these freshwaterlakes lakes variety of fauna and flora. the park is located 30km west of anuradhapura and 20km north of puttalam. the park is shared between -the north western province and the north central province. the western b

විල්පත්තු ජාතික වනෝද්‍යානය සෑම වසරකම වියලි කලාපයට ආවේණික ලක්ෂණයක් වන නියගයට මුහුන දෙන අතර, වන සතුන්ද එයට හුරු වී ඇත. එහිදී සතුන් දැඩි ජල හිගයකට මුහුන පායි. අප දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් මේ සදහා කදිම විසදුමක් ලෙස කලාඔයෙන් මුහුදට ගලා බසින ජලය එළුවන්කුලමින් සූර්ය බලයෙන් ක්‍රියාත්මක වන ජල පොම්පයක් හරහා පොම්පරිප්පුව(ඉතා වියලි ප්‍රදේශයකි) දක්වා රැගෙන එන අතර, ඒ අතර තුර ධාරිතාව ලීටර් 3000 ක ජල පොකුණු 05 කටත්, පොම්පරිප්පු පිටියෙහි ලීටර් 30,000 ක ධාරිතාවයෙන් යුත් ජල පොකුණු 02 කටත්, පුරවනු ලැබේ. මෙය ඉතා සාර්ථක ක්‍රමවේදයක් වන අතර, මුහුදට ගලා බසින ජලය සතුන්ගේ ප්‍රයෝජනය සදහා ලබා ගෙන ඇත. සූර්ය බලයෙන් ක්‍රියාත්මක වීම නිසා නඩත්තුව ඉතා පහසුය. මේ ආකාරයෙන්ම මෝදර ගං ආරු මගින් ලබා ගන්නා ජලය මෙවැනිම පොම්පයක් හරහා මානික්කපොල උත්තු දක්වා ගෙන ඒමට කටයුතු සිදු කරමින් සිටී.
