Today the Swedish Ambassador and the Minister for Social Affairs Her Excellency Hanin Sayyed marked the delivery of humanitarian equipment from Sweden to Lebanon.

The shipment contains 4700 blankets, 940 family tents and 30 tents for medical and coordination purposes. Sweden supports the humanitarian response in Lebanon – so far in 2026 with 15 million USD, in addition to Swedish core funding to major humanitarian actors in the country.

– Sweden is committed to supporting Lebanon and its people, says Ambassador Jessica Svärdström, thanking Minister Hanin Sayyed and General al-Nabulsi at the High Relief Council for the Lebanese government’s leadership in the humanitarian response. “I am proud of Sweden’s contribution to the crucial humanitarian response in the country. Together, we can make sure that the many people around the country who have had to flee have access to safe and dignified shelter, while waiting to return home”.

The handover ceremony was attended by Her Excellency Minister Hanin Sayyed, Sweden’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ms Jessica Svärdström, Brigadier General Bassam al-Nabulsi of the HRC and Lions Beirut District Governor Michel Hassoun. The expert team from the Civil Defense and Resilience Agency and Lions Sweden, Sema Panboon and Ronny Brox, was also present.

The Swedish humanitarian equipment delivery to Lebanon is the result of a partnership between Lions Sweden and the Civil Defense and Resilience Agency, with EU support through the UCPM.
