Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung - Beirut Office The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation is one of the largest political education institutions in Germany today It is closely affiliated to the German Left Party.

The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS) is one of the major institutions of political education in the Federal Republic of Germany. Bearing the name of Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919), the RLS is committed to the legacy of the revolutionary left and works within the tradition of workers’ and women’s movements. It considers itself as part of the intellectual grass-roots movement of democratic socialism. The R

LS serves as a forum for debate and critical thinking about political alternatives, as well as a research centre for progressive social development. The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Beirut Office opened in May 2017.


مؤسسة روزا لوكسمبورغ هي واحدةٌ من ستِ مؤسساتٍ سياسيةٍ في جمهورية ألمانيا الإتحادية المرتبطة مع الأحزاب السياسية. ويُعتبر توفير التثقيف السياسي المهمة الأساسية لهذه المؤسسة. وهي ترتبط بشكلٍ وثيق مع حزب اليسار.

وقد انسجم عمل المؤسسة منذ إنشائها في عام 1990 مع أعمال المرأة التي سميت بإسمها، روزا لوكسمبورغ، وهي تمثل التيار الرئيسي للإشتراكية الديمقراطية مع تركيز دولي راسخ. وتعتَبِر المؤسسة نفسها ملتزمةً بوجهة نظر راديكالية فيما يخص التنوير والنقد الاجتماعي. وهي تقف مع أعراف الحركات العمالية والنسائية، وكذلك ضد الفاشية وضد العنصرية.

On May 28, 2026, we lost an irreplaceable soul. We grieve the passing of Saru Gurung, a remarkable activist, organizer, and vital part of our community.

Saru dedicated her life to uplifting others. As a migrant worker activist, she used her voice to educate, empower, and advocate against the Kafala system, transforming awareness into collective action. During times of war and crisis, her commitment to humanitarian support and mutual aid provided a lifeline to so many when they needed it most.

Saru’s courage, kindness, and radical solidarity left an indelible mark on everyone who had the honor of working alongside her. We extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones and community. Rest in peace, Saru. Your light remains with us. 🤍

في ٢٨ أيار ٢٠٢٦، فقدنا روحاً لا تعوّض. إننا ننعي ببالغ الحزن والأسى رحيل سارو غورونغ، الناشطة والمنظّمة الاستثنائية والجزء الحيوي من مجتمعنا.

كرّست سارو حياتها لرفعة الآخرين؛ وبصفتها ناشطة في مجال حقوق العمال المهاجرين، سخرت صوتها للتعليم، والتمكين، والمدافعة ضد نظام الكفالة، محوّلةً الوعي إلى عمل جماعي. وفي أوقات الحروب والأزمات، كان التزامها بالدعم الإنساني والمساعدة المتبادلة بمثابة شريان حياة للكثيرين في أحلك الظروف وأكثرها حاجة.

🌾 Food can be a tool of control or a vehicle for survival. Dr. Schluwa Sama explores how rural Kurdish communities resisted systematic attempts to weaponize hunger and strip them of autonomy. From British colonial land re-engineering to Ba'athist forced relocations and the Anfal campaign, family farms kept independent resistance alive by saving indigenous seeds and feeding Peshmerga fighters.

The olive tree, a symbol of peace and permanence, has become a target of war. Since October 2023, Lebanon’s food systems have been deliberately weaponized, with over 6,000 hectares of agricultural land scorched and a projected $58 million loss in olive oil revenue. From soil contamination by white phosphorus to the physical destruction of ancient groves, the foundation of communal life is under threat.

Individual actions matter, but systemic change is the only way to protect our planet. The data is clear: our current climate crisis is driven by corporate giants and outdated government subsidies. True progress means holding the top 100 emitters accountable, forcing companies to take responsibility for their waste, and shifting trillions in fossil fuel subsidies toward renewable energy. It’s time to prioritize the planet over profits. Demand more. Demand change.

The current war and crises affecting the Kurdistan Region and the wider region, continues to push people from rural areas into the big cities. Over population and fear of chronic illnesses have increased the demand to produce and access clean, local food in the cities.

In its forth year of trainings in the Kurdistan Region, to respond to the needs of the local communities, the Rosa Luxembourg Organization – Beirut Office, in collaboration with Karge Garden, Food and Heritage Garden, and the Kurdistan Institute, held another impactful training from April 15–17, 2026.

The training focused on establishing and managing a sustainable urban community garden at Karge Garden in Slemani.

Participants of the training stressed a clear demand: urban communities are in need of more green spaces to organize collectively and grow clean food.

More trainings will follow across Slemani and surrounding areas, in the coming months due to the increasing demands for collective action.

بەشداربووانی خولەکە جەختیان لە داواکارییەکی ڕوون کردەوە: دانیشوانی شارە گەورەکان پێویستیان بە ڕووبەری سەوزایی زیاتر هەیە بۆ کارکردنی بە هەرەوەزی و بەرهەم هێنانی خۆراک خاوێن.

لە مانگەکانی داهاتوودا، لە سۆنگەی زیادبوونی خواست لەسەر کشتوکاڵی سروشتی، بەردەوام دەبین لە خولی ڕاهێنانی نوێ لە شاری سلێمانی و ناوچەکانی دەوروبەری.

تستمر الحروب والأزمات الحالية في إقليم كردستان والمنطقة بدفع السكان من المناطق الريفية إلى المدن الكبرى، حيث أدى الاكتظاظ السكاني والمخاوف من الأمراض المزمنة إلى زيادة الطلب على إنتاج واستهلاك الغذاء المحلي النظيف؛ وفي عامها الرابع من التدريبات، نظمت مؤسسة روزا لكسمبورغ – مكتب بيروت، بالتعاون مع حديقة كارگە (Karge Garden) وحديقة الغذاء والتراث والمعهد الكردستاني، تدريباً مؤثراً في السليمانية (١٥-١٧ نيسان ٢٠٢٦) ركز على إدارة الحدائق المجتمعية الحضرية المستدامة، استجابةً لمطالب المشاركين بتوفير مساحات خضراء للعمل الجماعي، مع التخطيط لمزيد من الدورات في الأشهر المقبلة.
