Lebanon’s Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Dr. Nizar Hani, made a productive visit to the Netherlands.

Over the course of 5 days, the delegation met with Dutch government officials and visited knowledge institutes, universities, research centers and agricultural consultancies to explore the Dutch approach to innovation in the Agri-food sector.

The visit also provided a great opportunity to strengthen ties and explore new avenues for cooperation between the Netherlands and Lebanon.

We look forward to building on these valuable exchanges and continuing our partnership 🇱🇧🇳🇱

🇱🇧🇳🇱This week, general Onno Eichelsheim, Chief of Defence of the Netherlands, visited Lebanon where he met Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal.

They spoke about the collaboration between the two armies, and conducted an operational tour of border centers.

🇱🇧🇳🇱 Yesterday, Minister Berendsen and Minister Van den Brink met President Joseph Aoun in Beirut.

They discussed the ongoing negotiations with Israel, recent efforts to reduce tensions in the region, and the future of Lebanon. A stable and sovereign Lebanon deserves the continued support of its partners.

🤝 Last week, the embassy was present for the distribution of emergency core relief assistance for internally displaced LAF families across Lebanon, through LAF-CIMIC.

📦 The support benefits around 700 displaced LAF families over a three month period, addressing basic hygiene needs in shelters.

Beste Nederlanders in Libanon,

Zoals velen van jullie weten, herdenkt Nederland elk jaar op 4 mei alle Nederlandse mannen en vrouwen die sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog zijn omgekomen. Dit betreft zowel militairen als burgers die hun leven hebben verloren in oorlogssituaties en tijdens vredesmissies.

Ter gelegenheid hiervan organiseert de Ambassade van Nederland op maandag 4 mei een herdenkingsdienst op de Militaire Academie in Beiroet. Tijdens deze ceremonie staan we ook stil bij de Nederlandse militairen die in Libanon zijn omgekomen tijdens hun inzet voor UNIFIL.

Jullie zijn van harte uitgenodigd om hierbij aanwezig te zijn.

Beste landgenoten in Libanon,

We hopen dat het, ondanks alle problemen in het land en in de regio, naar omstandigheden goed met jullie gaat in deze zware tijd.

Zoals jullie natuurlijk weten, vieren we normaliter op of rond 27 april onze Koningsdag. Samen met onze Libanese contacten, maar vooral ook samen met jullie. Dit is altijd een mooi moment om elkaar te treffen.

In de huidige, volatiele situatie zou een Koningsdag-feest niet gepast zijn. Daarom hebben wij besloten tot uitstel. We hopen op een later moment dit jaar de viering doorgang te laten vinden. Natuurlijk worden de Nederlanders in Libanon daar dan ook bij betrokken.

👏 Yesterday we got to witness firsthand how the NL additional humanitarian funding through the Dutch Relief Alliance is supporting those affected by the conflict.

🫶 Visiting a mobile SRHR clinic and safe space for women and girls in Burj Hammoud, and an official collective shelter in Dekwaneh with mobile health services, offered a powerful view into how Dutch Relief Alliance partners are delivering integrated, people-centered support.

💪 Speaking directly with medical specialists, migrant and Lebanese IDPs, and staff from WarChild, IRC, SIDC and CARITAS Lebanon highlighted both the challenges they face and the meaningful difference these services are making.
