Monitoring isn’t glamorous. It’s long hours, divings, microscopes, data sheets and treatment. But it’s how we:
✅ Protect native species
✅ Support sustainable fishing
✅ Understand the biomass fluctuation

Every scientist, every technician, every student gives more than a sample jar—they give focus, patience, and passion.

🌊 مسح علمي بواسطة شباك الجر على طول الساحل اللبناني 🇱🇧⚓

يقوم المركز الوطني لعلوم البحار (CNRS-Lebanon)، بالتعاون مع منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (FAO) ووزارة الزراعة اللبنانية، بتنفيذ مسح علمي باستخدام شباك الجر على طول الساحل اللبناني.

يتم تنفيذ هذه المهمة الهامة على متن سفينة الأبحاث العلمية المتطورة التابعة لـ معهد MEDFRI التركي، بمشاركة خبراء لبنانيين متخصصين في علوم البحار، مكرّسين لتقييم المخزون السمكي، ودراسة التنوع البيولوجي البحري، ودعم الإدارة المستدامة للموارد البحرية في لبنان.

🔍 أهمية هذا المسح:
✅ يوفّر بيانات علمية حديثة حول الأنواع السمكية ذات الأهمية التجارية
✅ يساعد في رصد صحة وإنتاجية النظام البيئي البحري في لبنان
✅ يدعم صنع القرار الوطني لضمان استدامة الثروة السمكية

هذا التعاون الإقليمي يشكل خطوة أساسية نحو حماية مواردنا البحرية للأجيال القادمة. 🌿🐟

🌊 The National Center for Marine Sciences (CNRS-L), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and UNEP/MAP, is updating Lebanon’s 3rd National Action Plan (NAP) under the Barcelona Convention.
✨ This plan is a tool to protect the Mediterranean Sea from land-based pollution sources. It updates Lebanon’s commitments to the Barcelona Convention, its Protocols, and regional action plans, while setting a clear roadmap to strengthen compliance and implementation.
🤝 On Monday, September 29, 2025, the NAP Steering Committee, bringing together experts and representatives from line ministries and local authorities, met to endorse the measures identified through the update process.
Together, we are working to ensure a healthier and more sustainable Mediterranean for all. 💙🌍

من ضمن المسح العلمي الذي يقوم به المركز الوطني لعلوم البحار، تم توثيق عدة مجموعات🐬 للدلافين في البحر اللبناني. هذا المسح من ضمن مشروع SEMPA و OFFSHORE الممولين من UNEP/MAP-Programme في اطار المتابعة السنوية للثدييات البحرية 🦭🐳.

مهمة علمية من بيروت الى الجنوب
أبحر فريق المركز الوطني لعلوم البحار التابع للمجلس الوطني للبحوث العلمية والمؤلف من باحثين ومساعدين علميين من بيروت الى الجنوب على متن القارب العلمي قانا (R/V CANA -CNRS). في بحر هادئ ومناسب للأبحاث، قام الفريق ولمدة ثلاثة ايام بجمع عينات من مياه البحر الرسوبيات و الميكروبلاستيك ومراقبة مستمرة للثدييات البحرية وخاصة الدلافين.

📍Mina, Tripoli Update: Science in action! Our team is gathering essential data at the local fish auctions🐠🐟🦐🐡. This research is key to assessing fish stocks and promoting sustainable fishing practices in Lebanon🌍.
This work is done in close collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, under the MedSea4Fish project funded by the FAO and GFCM to ensure sustainable marine resources for Lebanon's future👌.
