Ambassador Miranda Meets with Lebanese Minister of Agriculture to Enhance Trade Cooperation

BEIRUT, LEBANON - In a major step toward strengthening bilateral relations, Ambassador Marlowe A. Miranda met with Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Hany Nizar on 3 June 2026, to discuss expanding agricultural trade and market access between the two nations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Miranda and Minister Nizar exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, focusing on ways to promote agricultural trade, streamline regulatory processes, and expand market access for both Philippine and Lebanese products. Both officials expressed optimism about the potential for deeper collaboration in the agricultural sector to benefit farmers and agribusinesses in both countries.

The discussions highlighted several key areas of cooperation, including the potential expansion of Philippine fruit and seafood exports to Lebanon. Additionally, the meeting touched upon the potential for the Philippines to import premium Lebanese products, such as olive oil and wine.

The Philippine Embassy will continue to coordinate with the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture and relevant agencies in the Philippines to build upon the discussions and explore future areas of partnership.

PH EMBASSY FACILITATES VOLUNTARY REPATRIATION OF TWO FILIPINOS FROM LEBANON
πŸ‡±πŸ‡§βœˆοΈπŸ‡΅πŸ‡

BEIRUT – The Philippine Embassy in Beirut continues to facilitate the voluntary repatriation of overseas Filipinos in Lebanon, assisting two Filipinos to return to the Philippines this week.

Both Filipinas had been facing difficult personal and financial circumstances, including family separation, unemployment within the household, and restrictions related to their respective residency status that prevented them from working legally in Lebanon. One repatriate sought to return home to rebuild her career prospects abroad, while another availed of repatriation assistance shortly after resolving personal family matters. Their cases reflect the continuing challenges faced by some members of the Filipino community amid the ongoing security and economic situation in Lebanon.

Lebanon remains under Crisis Alert Level 3, which has been in place since October 2023. Since then, the Embassy, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) have continued to facilitate voluntary repatriation for Filipinos who wish to return to the Philippines at government expense.

Under this alert level, the processing of Balik-Manggagawa applications and the return of contract workers to Lebanon remain temporarily suspended.

Despite the hostilities since 2023, the Embassy informs that no Filipinos have been reported among the casualties in the ongoing escalations.

Filipinos in Lebanon are strongly encouraged to avail of the voluntary repatriation program while flights remain available. Applications may be submitted through:
