PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN LEBANON SIGNS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS WITH KAFA, RDFL, AND INSAAF TO ENHANCE SUPPORT FOR FILIPINOS
Baabda, Lebanon – The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon has strengthened its network of partnerships by signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with three Lebanese organizations—KAFA (Enough) Violence & Exploitation, the Lebanese Democratic Women's Gathering (RDFL), and INSAAF—as part of its continuing commitment to promote the welfare, protection, and empowerment of Filipinos in Lebanon.
The MoUs were signed by Philippine Ambassador Marlowe A. Miranda and representatives of the three organizations during separate ceremonies held at the Philippine Embassy in Baabda. The signing ceremonies were attended by officials and staff of the Philippine Embassy, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
The first one, signed on 22 June 2026 with KAFA (Enough) Violence & Exploitation, establishes cooperation in providing assistance to Filipino nationals, particularly women and other vulnerable individuals, through capacity-building activities, referrals, counseling, and other support services. The collaboration reinforces both parties' shared commitment to preventing violence, protecting human rights, and promoting gender equality.
On 23 June 2026, the Embassy signed another MoU, this time with the Lebanese Democratic Women's Gathering (RDFL), a long-standing Lebanese civil society organization dedicated to advancing women's rights, social justice, and community development. Through this partnership, the Embassy and RDFL will collaborate on programs that promote gender equality, women's empowerment, and support services for Filipino nationals.
The series of partnerships concluded with the signing of a third MoU on 29 June 2026 with INSAAF, a non-governmental organization led by Filipino Executive Director Melanie Baggao that has long been engaged in assisting migrant workers and vulnerable communities in Lebanon. The agreement strengthens cooperation in extending legal, psychosocial, humanitarian, and community-based support to Filipinos in need while promoting awareness of migrants' rights and welfare.
During the signing ceremonies, Ambassador Marlowe A. Miranda underscored that these partnerships reflect the Philippine Embassy's steadfast commitment to working closely with trusted local organizations to advance the welfare and protection of the Filipino community in Lebanon. He emphasized that collaboration with civil society organizations strengthens the Embassy's capacity to deliver accessible, responsive, and comprehensive services to Filipino nationals while fostering coordinated and sustainable initiatives that address their evolving needs.
These partnerships underscore the Philippine Embassy's continuing efforts to forge meaningful collaboration with local stakeholders in promoting the welfare, protection, and empowerment of overseas Filipinos. They likewise reaffirm the Embassy's commitment to strengthening Philippine-Lebanon relations through shared humanitarian, social development, and community-based initiatives.
