On May 6, Russia struck a kindergarten in Sumy, killing a woman and injuring several people.

The attack caused a large-scale fire at the impact site.

Russia’s war continues to bring devastation to Ukrainian cities, demonstrating once again that Russia has no intention of stopping its aggression.

Ukraine introduced a ceasefire at midnight between May 5 and 6. Russia violated it immediately, once again deliberately targeting Ukrainian civilians and ignoring a realistic and fair call to stop the fighting, supported by other states and international organisations.

In the Dnipro region, Russia attacked four districts, killing 4 people and injuring 19. In the Sumy region, Russian strikes killed one person and wounded another. In the Kharkiv region, two people were injured as a result of Russian attack. Overnight, Russia launched 108 drones and 3 missiles, striking several regions across Ukraine.

Russia’s talk of a “ceasefire” on May 9 is not about diplomacy. Putin cares only about military parades.

Only stronger pressure can stop Russia: new rounds of sanctions, deeper international isolation, full accountability for war crimes, and increased support for Ukraine in all areas.

Throughout May 5, Russia carried out numerous attacks across Ukraine. As a result of strikes targeting nine regions, at least 27 people have been killed and over 120 injured – all in a single day. Following its usual tactics of terror, many civilian sites have been hit.

A day that should have marked the entry into force of a ceasefire proposed by Ukraine is instead ending with a rising toll of victims from intensified Russian attacks.

There are no signs that Russia is planning to stop its senseless and brutal war, and no clear response indicating a return to diplomacy for the sake of lasting peace – only more killings.

While Russia shows no interest in saving human lives, a collective and firm position is needed from all those who support the protection of life and value peace. Terror must be stopped.

Russia is turning Ukrainian nuclear facilities into weapons of war against Ukraine and Europe.
Russia invaded and occupied the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 2022, putting the Exclusion Zone and its critical systems at risk.
In 2025, a Russian Shahed drone struck the New Safe Confinement of the Chornobyl NPP, damaging the protective structure over the destroyed reactor.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remains under temporary Russian occupation since 2022. Russia located military equipment and weapons on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, turning Europe’s largest nuclear facility into a military asset.
These actions show a clear pattern of nuclear blackmail. This cannot continue. Russia must be stopped and held accountable.

Odesa was hit by a Russian massive overnight strike on April 30, causing widespread destruction and fires across different parts of the city. At least 18 people were injured.
Residential areas were struck, with apartments in both a five-storey and a 17-storey building catching fire, along with a private house and a nearby hotel. Fires were also reported in warehouses, as well as administrative and educational buildings. Dozens of buses and cars were destroyed.
This must not continue. More pressure on Russia is needed to stop its war of aggression.
