Association for promotion good life of the children & Youth (APREN) is a Lao non-profit organisation located at Ban dongsavath village , sisathanark district , in Vientiane, Lao PDR. We provide after-school activites and life skills training. is run after-school program at state school . APREN was established and approved by MOHA on 22 October 2019 (official registration). This has led to a high rate of school drop outs, drug abuse, neglected children, domestic abuse, youth prostitution and thievery. We provide training /workshop for teacher and local volunteer to support after school activity with:
After school activity workshop, Library management, Gender Equality Education, Child right in education,, waste management, nutrition, child promotion, nutrition, Conflict Management & Peace ,Building skills Development , Coaching skills, Arts Training: Drama and Acting (Alternative method to teaching children ) , Youth life skill, Reproductive health
And We accomplish this at APREN by promoting child right in education through after school activity at the state school
English class, Sport, Handicraft making, Doormat weaving, Textile weaving, Postcard, Rock creation, Poem, chanting, Lao culture, Reading/telling story, Drawing, writing news and story, Kamishibai, Puppetry show, Tree planting, Garbage recycling, composting, rice farming, gardening, carpentry, weaving, basket-making, pottery making, raise frog and fish. We also have professional tradesman from these traditional professions share their expertise with the children. Furthermore, APPREN appreciates and integrates Lao culture in education with traditional music, drama, and dance. Besides learning from these resources, we also integrate reading, storytelling, creative writing, drawing, and traditional games into the curriculum. At present -APPREN is responsibility four places and support other state schools.
1. Donkoi school , started in 1998 at Mr.Khamvanh's
house . It is about 7 minute drive from downtown Vientiane capital . Currently Donkio school is located inside the school compound and it has these following activities : a dream recycling center, 3 box garbage dividing stations , dream garden with composting activity , carpenter house, reading promotion with a attrative library with storytelling, reading promotion , a children world kindergarten , an educational traditional food promotion kitchen . There is multiple activity hall that has Lao classical dance , a impressive children world Lao textile weaving room and mat weaving corner. One end has big theatre stage , one the other side has four income generation art and craft activities : rock creation, paper mache , and grass pictureand newspaper bag making , the rest of the big hall hold young leaders' activities like theatre, acting music , writing, making books . It is also used for big performances like Children 's classical Ramayana that could include the whole school in the performance. The last but not least is the new dream Secret Garden ' with beautiful paintings and drawings by the 7 international youth volunteers and 16 Lao teenagers in the summer of 2012. Donkio school also has football for development program . Donkio school also has a show room / office with one computer and 3G to use for internet. Each year Donkio school has summer camp that attract junior high school students and local
and international volunteers with many more creative activities like outing rice
planting, cooking. An annual children's fair for parents , community and visitors at the
third week of August and the summer camp is closed.
2. Nahai school Started 2002 . And was built inside Nahai school compound in 2004 : A Preventive program . Nahai is in rural area, poorer it is about 45 minute drive from Vientiane capital After school activity program similar of Donkoi school but smaller it has classical dance, drama, sport, reading , storytelling, young leaders , writing and a kindergarten .. Young leaders of grade 5 are very active this year plus n active Football team of grade 4 and 5 . And They chose good important topic day from calendar as Lao new year, teacher’s day, child day ,…. To teach student to give good lesson through activity with drawing, writing newsletter, sing a song, dance , drama ,…..
3. Udomphone school Started 2003: about 50 minute drive from VTE , After school program, similar of Donkoi school: Lao classical dance , strong textile weaving, mat weaving, embroidery, library reading promotion, door rug making, football and Outdoor traditional games , book making and story writing , paper bag making , gardening.. . It is good build young leader to teach their friend with other activity they learned . And they can support time to teach his friends.
4. Dongsavath SCHOOL, After school program started in 2008 by Mr. Phonesay was a former Volunteer at Donkoi school for three years. He is inspired by the activities of Donkoi school and
he came back to his village Dongsavath primary school which is the next village to Donkoi,
about 3Km from DK school to start After school program. After only a year Phonesay created an impressive AFTER school porgram with similar activities
of Donkoi school . He has called it Dongsavath Children and Youth Development Center as he
was able to encourage many local youths volunteers to his after school program
Now to be new name APPREN is become a Non Profit Association NPA. The after school program
including, Computer training for youth, strong football and leadership program for volunteer
plus handicraft like recycle papers craft , textile weaving, mat weaving , paper mache, rock
creation , shadow puppet, clay animation, gardening and well organized herbal graden and Lao
classical dance and English classes and Summer camp. APREN does not have separate center only it has an outdoor stage and the Dongsavath school
lend him two rooms for indoor art and craft activities and a room as show room, computer and
office .
