🇪🇺🇺🇦 On , the armed forces of the Russian Federation launched full scale aggression against neighbouring Ukraine.

UN General Assembly Resolution No. ES-11/1 of 2 March 2022 deplores in the strongest terms the aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and demands its complete and unconditional withdrawal from the territory of Ukraine. The war in Ukraine is causing immense human suffering and damaging the global economy – constraining growth, increasing inflation, disrupting supply chains, heightening energy and food insecurity, and elevating financial stability risks. We reaffirm, as for all nations, the need to respect the sovereignty, political independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine, in line with the principles of the UN Charter.

Russia’s action has been universally condemned, and the situation in Ukraine was addressed in the Joint Statement of the EU-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on 2 February 2024.

Diplomacy behind the scenes - what is the Ambassador carrying? (English below) 🤚 🤔

เกร็ดเบื้องหลังการทูต - อะไรอยู่ในมือของเอกอัครราชทูต? 🤚🤔

สัปดาห์นี้ เอกอัครราชทูตแอนนา ฮัมมาร์เกรน ได้เดินทางเยือนกรุงพนมเปญเพื่อถวายพระราชสาส์นตราตั้งแด่กษัตริย์กัมพูชา

ในการที่จะดำรงตำแหน่งเอกอัครราชทูตวิสามัญผู้มีอำนาจเต็มของสวีเดนได้นั้น เอกอัครราชทูตจะต้องมอบพระราชสาส์นตราตั้งแก่ประมุขของรัฐในประเทศเขตอาณาเสียก่อน

เช่นเดียวกับเอกอัครราชทูตของทุกประเทศ นี่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของพิธีการทูตและอาจเป็นหนึ่งในพิธีการทูตที่เป็นทางการที่สุด

เอกอัครราชทูตได้รับพระราชทานพระราชสาส์นตราตั้งจากประมุขของรัฐผู้ส่ง (ในกรณีของสวีเดนคือสมเด็จพระราชาธิบดีแห่งสวีเดน) เพื่อมอบให้แก่ประมุขของรัฐผู้รับ

เมื่อพิธีมอบซึ่งส่วนใหญ่เป็นไปด้วยความศักดิ์สิทธิ์เสร็จสิ้นลง เอกอัครราชทูตจะกลายเป็นผู้แทนอย่างเป็นทางการในประเทศผู้รับนั้น ๆ

This week the Swedish Ambassador to Thailand, Anna Hammargren, is in Phnom Penh to present her letter of credence to the King.

In order to become the official representative for Sweden, the Ambassador needs to handover the letters of credence to the Head of State in each of the countries that she will cover.

The same goes for all the Ambassadors, for all countries. This is a part of diplomatic protocol and possibly one of the most formal.

The letter of credence is given to the Ambassador by their Head of State (in the case of Sweden it is the King), and addressed to the Head of State in the host country.
When it is handed over, often during a formal and solemn ceremony, the Ambassador is officially the representative of their country in the host state.

So from yesterday, we have a Swedish Ambassador to Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.🇸🇪 🇹🇭 🇰🇭 🇱🇦

50 years as king! Quite a feat! (English below)

👑 🇸🇪 สมเด็จพระราชาธิบดีคาร์ลที่ 16 กุสตาฟ กษัตริย์สวีเดนองค์ปัจจุบันเสด็จขึ้นครองราชสมบัติในวันที่ 15 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2516

ทำให้พระองค์เป็นกษัตริย์ที่ครองราชย์ยาวนานที่สุดของสวีเดน

เกร็ดน่ารู้จากวังที่ท่านอาจไม่ทราบ มีดังนี้

- พระบิดาของพระองค์เสด็จสวรรคตเมื่อพระองค์มีพระชันษาเพียง 9 เดือน

- เพื่อเฉลิมฉลองการครองราชสมบัติครบ 50 ปี พระองค์ได้เสด็จฯ เยือนทั้ง 21 มณฑลทั่วประเทศสวีเดนในปีกาญจนาภิเษกนี้

- สวีเดนเป็นประเทศแรกในโลกที่ได้แก้ไขกฎหมายว่าด้วยการสืบราชสมบัติของพระมหากษัตริย์โดยให้สิทธิกับลูกคนแรกก่อนไม่ว่าจะเป็นเพศใดก็ตามตั้งแต่ปี 2523

- สมเด็จพระราชินีซิลเวียเป็นสมเด็จพระราชินีพระองค์แรกของสวีเดนที่เคยประกอบอาชีพ (เคยเป็นล่ามที่ได้รับการฝึกโดยเฉพาะ)

- สมเด็จพระราชาธิบดีฯ มีพระธิดาและพระโอรสรวม 3 พระองค์ และมีพระราชนัดดารวม 7 พระองค์ ในปี พ.ศ. 2562 พระองค์ทรงถอดพระราชนัดดา 5 พระองค์จากตำแหน่งที่ต้องปฏิบัติกรณียกิจ

ตามรัฐธรรมนูญสวีเดนปี พ.ศ. 2517 กษัตริย์สวีเดนไม่มีความสัมพันธ์ทางการเมืองและพระราชอำนาจต่าง ๆ อย่างเป็นทางการ พระราชกรณียกิจต่าง ๆ ส่วนใหญ่มีลักษณะทางพิธีการหรือการเป็นผู้แทน

👑 🇸🇪 King Carl XVI Gustaf, Sweden’s current monarch, ascended the throne on 15 September 1973.

This makes him the longest reigning monarch in Swedish history.

Here are some royal facts you may not know:

- The King’s father died when he was only nine months old.

- All 21 of Sweden’s regions has been visited by the King to mark the occasion of his 50-year anniversary in the months leading up to the jubilee.

- In 1980, Sweden became the first monarchy to change its succession so that the first-born child of the monarch is heir to the throne, regardless of gender.

- King Carl XVI Gustaf’s wife, Queen Silvia, is the first Swedish queen to have had a professional career (she is a trained interpreter).

- The King has three children and seven grandchildren. In 2019, King Carl Gustaf relieved five of his grandchildren from royal duties.

According to the 1974 constitution, the Swedish monarch has no political affinity or formal powers. His duties are mainly of a ceremonial and representative nature.

💖 Sweden 500 – A year of celebration

🥰 2023 truly is a jubilee year for Sweden, as the country boasts 500 years worthy of a celebration. It’s a year with more than one Swedish milestone, featuring everything from royals and opera to rollercoasters and the Nobel Prize Banquet. But at the heart of it all is unification and democracy. On the occasion of the Swedish National Day on 6 June, we would like to dedicate this week to celebrate!

👑 2023 also marks 50 years on the throne for King Carl XVI Gustaf who was coronated in 1973.

⚖️ As head of state, King Carl XVI Gustaf is the country’s foremost unifying symbol. According to the constitution, he has no political affinity or formal powers, and his duties are mainly of a ceremonial and representative nature.

🤴 He became King of Sweden on 15 September 1973, following the death of King Gustaf VI Adolf.

👏 Fast-forward to today, and King Carl XVI Gustaf can boast the title as the longest reigning monarch in Swedish history, with more than 80 state visits abroad including Thailand.

👸🏻 All set to follow in his footsteps is Crown Princess Victoria. In 1980, the Succession Act was made gender-neutral, which turned Princess Victoria – the oldest of Carl Gustaf’s three children – into Crown Princess Victoria.

💙💛 As a celebration of his 50 years on the throne, King Carl XVI Gustaf is paying visit to all 21 of Sweden’s regions during the course of the year, together with Queen Silvia. Hosted by the respective governors, these visits are an opportunity to meet with the people.

✉️ Last month, new stamps was released by Post Nord of King Carl Gustaf in connection with the jubilee year - 50 years on the throne.

Swedish Presidency in the Council of the European Union (English below)

🇸🇪 🇪🇺 เมื่อวันที่ 14 ธันวาคม 2565 นายกรัฐมนตรี Ulf Kristersson ได้แถลงการจัดลำดับความสำคัญทางการเมืองในวาระที่สวีเดนจะทำหน้าที่เป็นประธานคณะมนตรีแห่งสหภาพยุโรป (The Council of the European Union) ต่อรัฐสภา

สวีเดนจะทำหน้าที่ประธานฯ ตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 มกราคม – 30 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2566 โดยประเทศสมาชิกสหภาพยุโรปจะผลัดเปลี่ยนกันทำหน้าที่ประธานฯ ทุก 6 เดือน ประเทศสมาชิกที่เป็นประธานจะเป็นผู้นำการทำงานของคณะมนตรีฯ และเป็นผู้แทนรัฐสมาชิกทั้ง 27 ในการเจรจากับสถาบันต่าง ๆ ของสหภาพยุโรป

ก่อนหน้านี้ สวีเดนเคยเป็นประธานฯ มาแล้วสองครั้ง เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2544 และ 2552

🇸🇪 🇪🇺 On 14 December 2022, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson presented the political priorities of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union to the Riksdag.

Sweden will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union between 1 January and 30 June. 2022. The Presidency of the Council of the European Union rotates among the Member States every six months. The country that holds the Presidency leads the work of the Council and represents all 27 Member States in negotiations with other EU institutions.

Sweden has held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union twice before: in 2001 and 2009.

For the Presidency in 2023 the Swedish priorities can be summed up in four points:

🇪🇺 Competitiveness
🇪🇺 Green & energy transition
🇪🇺 Democratic values and the rule of law – our foundation

🇸🇪✨ Happy Birthday H.M. Queen Silvia (English below) สุขสันต์วันคล้ายวันพระราชสมภพสมเด็จพระราชินีซิลเวียแห่งสวีเดน

สมเด็จพระราชินีซิลเวียแห่งสวีเดนเสด็จพระราชสมภพที่เยอรมนี เมื่อวันที่ 23 ธันวาคม ค.ศ. 1943 ทรงพบกับสมเด็จพระราชาธิบดีคาร์ลที่ 16 กุสตาฟ แห่งสวีเดนในงานกีฬาโอลิมปิกที่นครมิวนิค เมื่อค.ศ. 1972 ต่อมาได้ประกอบพระราชพิธีราชาภิเษกสมรสในวันที่ 16 มิถุนายน ค.ศ. 1976 สมเด็จพระราชินีซิลเวียเป็นพระราชินีที่ทรงดำรงตำแหน่งกว่า 40 ปีมาแล้ว ซึ่งยาวนานที่สุดในประวัติศาสตร์สวีเดน

🇸🇪✨ H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden was born in Germany on 23 December 1943. Queen Silvia and King Carl XVI Gustaf met at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and they got married on 19 June 1976. They have been married for over 40 years, which makes her Sweden’s longest-serving queen.
H.M. Queen Silvia is involved in numerous charity organizations, especially in the area of disadvantaged children, and has made several public statements about human rights and children sexual exploitation. She was also a co-founder of the World Childhood Foundation in 1999, having been inspired by her work as Patron of the first World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children held in Stockholm.
