Ambassador Melissa Kelly was pleased to meet with Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries CEO Mr Mutlaq Al-Zayed for a farewell call as she prepares to conclude her tenure in Kuwait.

For decades, Australian wheat and barley have played an important role in Kuwait’s food security, with importing Australian wheat since the 1960s. This remains one of the most enduring examples of Australia and Kuwait’s trade partnership.

Throughout her time in Kuwait, Ambassador Kelly has deeply valued her engagement with KFMB and its role in bringing Australian grain to homes, bakeries and communities across Kuwait.

سُرّت السفيرة ميليسا كيلي بلقاء السيد مطلق الزايد، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة مطاحن الدقيق والمخابز الكويتية، في زيارة وداعية مع استعدادها لاختتام مهامها في دولة الكويت.

على مدى عقود، لعب القمح والشعير الأستراليان دوراً مهماً في دعم الأمن الغذائي في دولة الكويت، حيث تستورد شركة مطاحن الدقيق والمخابز الكويتية القمح الأسترالي منذ ستينيات القرن الماضي. ولا يزال هذا التعاون أحد أبرز وأطول أمثلة الشراكة التجارية بين أستراليا ودولة الكويت.

وخلال فترة عملها في دولة الكويت، ثمّنت السفيرة كيلي عالياً تعاونها مع شركة مطاحن الدقيق والمخابز الكويتية، ودورها في إيصال الحبوب الأسترالية إلى المنازل والمخابز والمجتمعات في مختلف أنحاء الكويت.

Ambassador Melissa Kelly met with Kuwait Investment Authority Managing Director H.E. Sheikh Saoud Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah as she prepares to conclude her tenure in Kuwait.

Australia values Kuwait’s investments in Australia, including significant investments across sectors such as real estate, infrastructure, banking, agriculture, hotels, green energy and oil and gas.

Throughout her time in Kuwait, Ambassador Kelly has valued the opportunity to work closely with .gov.kw and to support the investment ties that continue to form one of the strongest pillars of the Australia-Kuwait relationship.

التقت السفيرة ميليسا كيلي بسعادة الشيخ سعود سالم عبدالعزيز الصباح، العضو المنتدب للهيئة العامة للاستثمار، وذلك في إطار استعدادها لاختتام مهامها في دولة الكويت.

This , Australia is acting to protect marine areas.
The recently passed High Seas Biodiversity Bill helps pave the way for Australia to ratify the UN High Seas Treaty.
The high seas – areas of the ocean outside national borders – cover nearly two-thirds of our ocean yet remains largely unprotected. This landmark treaty will:

🐠 Create marine protected areas beyond national borders
🐋 Safeguard migratory species
🔬 Strengthen global cooperation for ocean health
🌿 Embed Indigenous and traditional knowledge into international ocean governance.

Earlier this year, Foreign Minister Penny Wong spoke with Coral Pasisi from Niue Ocean Wide about how Pacific island countries are experiencing the impacts of climate change firsthand – and why protecting our ocean matters now more than ever.

Ambassador Melissa Kelly paid a farewell call on His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Minister of the Amiri Diwan, and His Excellency Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Diwan of His Highness the Crown Prince, as she prepares to conclude her tenure as Australia’s Ambassador to Kuwait.

The meeting was an opportunity to reiterate Australia’s strong support for Kuwait in these challenging times, as well as to reflect on the warm, longstanding relationship between Australia and Kuwait.

Ambassador Kelly expressed her appreciation for the friendship and cooperation of the Diwans, which were integral to the success of her term as Ambassador.

أجرت السفيرة ميليسا كيلي زيارة وداع إلى معالي الشيخ حمد جابر العلي الصباح، وزير شؤون الديوان الأميري، ومعالي الشيخ ثامر جابر الأحمد الصباح، رئيس ديوان سمو ولي العهد، وذلك مع قرب انتهاء فترة عملها سفيرةً لأستراليا لدى دولة الكويت.

وشكّل اللقاء فرصة للتأكيد مجدداً على دعم أستراليا القوي للكويت في ظل هذه الظروف الصعبة، إلى جانب استذكار العلاقات الوطيدة والراسخة التي تجمع بين أستراليا ودولة الكويت.

وأعربت السفيرة كيلي عن تقديرها للصداقة والتعاون اللذين حظيت بهما من الديوان الأميري وديوان سمو ولي العهد، واللذين كان لهما دور مهم في نجاح فترة عملها كسفيرة.

Eid breakfast this year comes with an Australian twist!

Ambassador Melissa Kelly challenged Kuwaiti Chef Khalid Al Baker to see if he could bring Australia’s iconic Vegemite into the world of Kuwaiti cuisine.

The result? A custom Aussie-Kuwaiti take on balaleet, pairing the salty, umami-rich flavour of Vegemite with the familiar Kuwaiti flavours of saffron, rosewater and cardamom.

A delicious Eid brekkie, indeed!

تحدّت السفيرة ميليسا كيلي الشيف الكويتي خالد البكر لمعرفة ما إذا كان بإمكانه إدخال الفيجمايت، أحد أشهر المذاقات الأسترالية، إلى عالم المطبخ الكويتي.

والنتيجة؟ نسخة أسترالية-كويتية خاصة من البلاليط، تجمع بين نكهة الفيجمايت المالحة والغنية بالأومامي، والنكهات الكويتية المألوفة من الزعفران وماء الورد والهيل.
