KIST joined key bilateral discussions in Vietnam to help expand future growth partnerships — from economic cooperation to science and technology collaboration.
⭐ Korea-Vietnam Business Forum
On April 23 (local time), the Korea-Vietnam Business Forum was held in Hanoi during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit to Vietnam.
The forum brought together approximately 500 government officials and business leaders from both countries, including President Lee and Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng, to discuss ways to expand bilateral economic cooperation.
Both countries agreed to move beyond traditional manufacturing-focused partnerships and expand cooperation into future industries through the NEXT agenda:
✔ Nurturing Talent – Developing advanced talent
✔ Energy – Expanding energy cooperation
✔ AX – Accelerating AI transformation
✔ Tech – Strengthening science and technology collaboration
KIST President Oh Sang Rok presented a vision connecting talent, technology, and industry, proposing a cooperation strategy that combines Korea’s maturity with Vietnam’s dynamism—drawing strong interest from business leaders in both countries.
🔥 Korea-Vietnam Science & Technology Innovation Forum
On April 24, the Korea-Vietnam Science & Technology Innovation Forum was held at Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology in Vietnam.
The forum was designed to share the vision and action plans of the Korea-Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Master Plan and explore practical ways to deepen collaboration.
Key participants included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon, Senior Secretary for AI Strategy Ha Jung-woo, and KIST President Oh Sang-rok, along with major representatives from Vietnam’s government, industry, and academia.
During the forum, President Oh presented the Korea-Vietnam Science & Technology Innovation Cooperation Master Plan, highlighting:
✔ Expanding joint research
✔ Fostering science and technology talent
✔ Supporting technology demonstration and commercialization
✔ Building local cooperation hubs
The event also delivered tangible outcomes, with 10 MOUs signed in advanced technology fields, including AI, quantum technology, and space.
KIST will continue expanding global partnerships and building future innovation through international science and technology collaboration. 🚀
