June 23, 2024
The Indonesian Traditional Dance Group (KTTI) enlivened the Indonesian Festival by performing four dances: Jonggan, Rendeng Bojong, Lenggang Nyai, and Gita Cinta Nusantara. This was followed by a flash mob of Indonesian songs with the audience.
*Jonggan Dance, West Kalimantan
‘Jonggan’ is derived from the Dayak language meaning ‘dance’.
*Rendeng Bojong Dance, Sundanese
The dance aims to restore the atmosphere of the social dance’s warmth by presenting men and women as couples.
*Lenggang Nyai, Jakarta
Inspired by the story of Nyai Dasimah, a beautiful lady who lived in Netherland colonial era.
*Gita Cinta Nusantara, medly of Indonesian folksongs
The medley consists of folksongs from 7 different tribes: “Sigulempong” (Batak), “Kicir-Kicir” (Betawi), “Gethuk” (Javanese), “Paris Barantai” (Banjar), “Si Patokaan (Minahasa), “Janger” (Balinese), “Manuk Dadali” (Sundanese).
The choreography was created by 5 members of KTTI.
