This past week, MEDDAC-K Soldiers participated in a US / ROK Navy exercise, Operation Dragon Lift. The team flew to the ROK Navy ship, Il Chul B**g, simulated casualty triage, and exercised surgery under maritime combat conditions.

MEDDAC-K is happy to celebrate the promotion of CPT Donald (Spencer) Salmon to MAJ! MAJ Salmon is a pediatrician that also serves as the Camp Walker (Wood) Clinic OIC. We routinely like to brag on him as he is a force of nature in and out of the clinic as he spends much of his limited free time leading the Area IV MEDDAC-K team to intramural sports championships, attends local cultural events, and is about as wholesome of a person one can encounter! Thank you to you and your family for your continued service! Congratulations, MAJ Salmon!

On 30 May, Medical Department Activity Korea held a leaders training time highlighting Arctic Trauma Medicine. Care under fire is already tough, but it’s even more complicated when it’s well below freezing! MEDDAC-K soldiers received a block of instruction from SGT Perlaza and then used ice baths to simulate loss of dexterity in a cold weather environment. They then learned fine motor skill techniques to start IVs, insert breathing, tubes and more!

For Leaders’ Training Time this week, MEDDAC-K partnered with 2ID for some of the best training any of us have experienced for CBRN!

73 MEDDAC-K Soldiers experienced the CBRN chamber and went on to learn from subject matter experts on how to run a decontamination line and properly use their CBRN gear.
