The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) provides the following update regarding the late Mr Ziyuan Wang, the visiting cruise crew member who was reported missing while hiking on Mt Liamuiga on May 27th, 2026.

🚨 TRAFFIC NOTICE — BIRD ROCK INTERSECTION 🚨

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force advises the public that the Department of Public Works will be conducting operations at the Rams/TDC Bird Rock intersection on Thursday, June 11th, 2026, between 8 AM and 3 PM.

Motorists should expect temporary disruptions to the normal flow of traffic in the area during this period and are asked to plan ahead and use alternative routes where possible.

🚨 TRAFFIC ADVISORY — OFFICIAL FUNERAL OF THE LATE MR ELSTON “KING ELLIE MATT” NERO🚨

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force advises the public that road conditions in parts of Basseterre will be affected on Thursday, June 11th, 2026, in observance of the Official Funeral of the late Mr Elston “King Ellie Matt” Nero, 10-time St. Kitts National Calypso Monarch and 7-time Road March winner.

🕛 Viewing and tributes commence at 12 PM at the Newtown Playfield, Basseterre.

🚗 FUNERAL PROCESSION ROUTE (commencing at 10:30 AM)

The funeral cortège will depart Jenkins Funeral Home, Lower Market Street and travel via the following route:

1. ⬅️ Left on Central Street
2. ⁠⬅️ Left on Church Street
3. ➡️⁠ Right on Cayon Street
4. ⁠➡️ Right down Fort Street
5. ⁠⬅️ Left on Bank Street
6. ⁠⬆️ Straight on George Street
7. ⁠⬅️ Left on Sand Down Road
8. ⁠➡️ Right on Pond Road
9. ⁠⬅️ Left onto the Newtown Playfield

Following the service, a Military Procession will form up on Pond Road and proceed along Cayon Street to Springfield Cemetery, entering via the southern gate on Wigley Avenue.

⚠️ Motorists are advised to expect delays and temporary road closures along the procession route during this period. Please plan your travel accordingly, use alternative routes where possible, and show respect as the procession passes.

St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services is advising residents in and around the Shadwell area to take immediate precautions due to heavy smoke from an active fire in the area. Shifting wind conditions are causing smoke to spread across surrounding areas.

If you have asthma, respiratory conditions, or any breathing difficulties, act NOW:

🏠 Stay Indoors — Close all windows and doors immediately.

🛋️ Create a Clean Room — Seal off a central room in your home. Use an air purifier if you have one.

❄️ Recirculate Your Air — If your AC is on, switch it to recirculate mode to stop outside air from coming in.

💊 Keep Your Inhaler Close — Have your rescue inhaler on your person at all times. Use a spacer if available.

🚫 Reduce Indoor Pollutants — Avoid candles, cigarette smoke, and frying until the advisory is lifted.

🏃 Limit Physical Activity — Stay calm and avoid strenuous tasks indoors.

Fire crews are on the scene and actively working to bring the situation under control. Updates will be issued as the situation develops.

🔴 UPDATE | SEARCH FOR MISSING HIKER - MT. LIAMUIGA🕯️

It is with deep regret that the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) confirms that Mr Wang Zyuan, who had been missing on the Mt. Liamuiga trail since Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, was located deceased on Monday, June 1st, 2026, by one of the search teams.

Since May 27th, joint teams from the RSCNPF, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services, the Police Training School, the Forest Unit, the Red Cross, the Ross University K9 Unit, and dedicated community volunteers have searched the mountain daily. We are profoundly grateful to every person who gave their time and effort to this operation.

Detailed information is not yet available, and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.

The Force extends its heartfelt condolences to Mr Wang's family, friends, and associates during this painful time. We respectfully ask the public to refrain from speculation and to rely only on official sources for accurate information as this matter proceeds.

🔴 UPDATE | SEARCH FOR MISSING HIKER — MT. LIAMUIGA 🔴

The search for missing visitor Wang Ziyuan, last seen on the Mt. Liamuiga trail on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, continues into its fourth day.

Over the past two days, joint search teams comprising officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Department, officers from the Police Training School, the Forest Unit, the Red Cross, and the Ross University K9 Unit have conducted extensive wide-area search operations across the mountain. Searches on both *hursday, May 29th (Day 3) and Friday, May 30th (Day 4) ran for the duration of the day. Mr Wang has not yet been located.

The RSCNPF and all partnering agencies remain committed to finding Mr. Wang and will continue search operations. Updates will be issued as the situation develops.

The Force thanks all volunteers, agencies, and members of the public who have supported and continue to support this effort. 🙏
