Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral

Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral We are Church: Catholic & Caribbean

Our mission is simply to make Jesus known and loved. The Pastor

Our Parish Administrator is Fr. Lawrence Malama.

Co-Cathedral? Our Church is known as a Co-Cathedral because our Diocese of St. John’s-Basseterre consists of two independent island-nations (namely the federation of St. Kitts & Nevis - independent since 1983 and Antigua-Barbuda - independent since 1981) as well as several British territories (namely: Anguilla, Montserrat, Tortola & Virgin Gorda). The capitals of the two nations Basseterre (St. Ki

tts) and St. John’s (Antigua) have Cathedrals. The Bishop of the Diocese resides in Antigua but visits St. Kitts several times per year. Catholicism in St. Kitts

Catholicism has never been the major religion on St. Kitts, and at present Catholics comprise only about six percent (6%) of the total population - with a membership of approximately 2,000 persons. Of that number, roughly 500-600 people worship at the Co-Cathedral during our weekend Masses. Please note however, that there are three (3) additional Catholic Churches in three (3) parishes around the island. The other churches are in Old Road, Sandy Point & Molineux. For Your Information

Our present Church was built in 1928 in the same location as an older smaller church which had been built in the 1840’s. The Presbytery (or Rectory) on the south side of the Church was first built in 1867. It was recently demolished because of termite infestation. The rebuilding of the Presbytery (which as a landmark property has retained its original façade) was completed in 2006 with its blessing & resumption of use taking place on 26th
April that year. The Parish Centre on the north side of the Church was originally a Convent and was built in 1895. It is one of the oldest continually standing properties on St. Kitts and is also a landmark property

Easter Sunday 2026 celebrates the Resurrection as the triumph of light over darkness and hope over despair. The empty tomb signifies that Jesus has conquered death, transforming human suffering into a pathway to eternal life. It calls believers to move from the shadows of doubt into the joy of the Risen Lord, becoming witnesses of His peace.

If you were unable to attend Mass this blessed Easter Sunday morning, you may attend virtually by clicking the link below.
