From the Dame:

I attended the official funeral service of Sir Cuthwin Lake in Antigua yesterday.

Sir Cuthwin was a brilliant surgeon who served, for the most part, in these smaller islands, particularly in Antigua, his adopted homeland.

He was born in Anguilla, pursued secondary education at the St Kitts-Nevis Grammar School and eventually settled in Antigua.

He left us on April 20, 2026 at the age of 95. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

On Tuesday 19th May I attended the church service at the Combermere Methodist Church in Nevis to celebrate the 100th birthday of Mrs Ernestine Albertha France Wilks. She looked beautiful and enjoyed every tribute paid to her.

I placed a medallion around her neck and presented her with a gift basket on behalf of the nation.

Mrs France Wilks is the newest centenarian in the Federation making a total of nine, eight of whom are women. Congratulations Lady Ernestine.

Happy 100th birthday and may God continue to bless you with good health and long life.
