Blake Dawgert, Chief of the Economic and Commercial Unit at U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh, joined the Director of the National Center for Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control to hand over 4,000 Tuberculosis (TB) test kits to Cambodia’s National Tuberculosis Program. These cutting-edge test kits, provided by the United States through the Trump Administration’s America First Global Health Strategy, will accelerate the speed and accuracy of TB case identification, particularly in remote communities. As a result of decades of U.S. global health assistance to Cambodia, TB incidence rates in Cambodia have dropped by almost 50 percent over the past 20 years. By investing in cutting-edge technologies and global health solutions, the United States is safeguarding Cambodians and Americans from the spread of TB and preventing the spread of infectious diseases before they spread internationally or reach American shores.
