Working Group "C" of Government-Private Sector Forum Convenes 4th Meeting to Improve Business Environment for Manufacturing, SMEs and Services

Phnom Penh, August 6, 2026 — The Royal Government and the private sector for the manufacturing, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and services sectors met to identify practical solutions to improve Cambodia's business environment during the fourth meeting of Working Group "C" of the Government-Private Sector Forum.

The private sector presented 13 key challenges affecting business operations, including salt production and imports, access to finance, investment incentives, electricity costs, business licensing procedures, implementation of environmental regulations, shortages of skilled labour, cashew processing, product certification, the development of enterprises in the informal economy, and strengthening compliance among online businesses to ensure fair competition.

Igor Driesmans today met five Cambodian recipients of the European Global Gateway Scholarship in Water Professions at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), encouraging them to make the most of their studies in Europe and return to help strengthen Cambodia's water sector.

The scholarship programme, supported by the European Union and partners, equips young Cambodian professionals with advanced knowledge and technical skills in water-related disciplines to support the country's long-term sustainable development and resilience.

Phnom Penh, August 3, 2026 — H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, today received a delegation from the Republic of Korea's Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), led by its Senior Advisor Dr. Jae-Cheon You, to review progress on the development of a digital-based industrial waste management system for Cambodia and discuss the project’s next steps.

During the meeting, the Korean delegation briefed the Minister on the project’s findings, including an assessment of Cambodia’s current industrial waste management system, key challenges to digitalisation, and recommendations for developing a digital architecture to strengthen industrial waste management.

Phnom Penh, July 31, 2026 — The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) today hosted World Accreditation Day 2026 under the theme, “Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation,” to raise awareness of the role of accreditation and conformity assessment in advancing innovation, strengthening market confidence and supporting sustainable development.

World Accreditation Day 2026 was initiated by Global ACI, a new global organisation formed through the merger of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), to promote awareness of the importance of accreditation and conformity assessment in ensuring the quality, safety and competitiveness of goods and services in domestic and international markets.
