On September 30 at 8:00-9:30 AM (Cambodia Time), Bunsim San will be joining CKS President Eve Zucker to discuss the Mapping Memories Cambodia —a Khmer Rouge place-based storytelling website and mobile application that identifies places of significance related to the Khmer Rouge era on a digital map of Cambodia. One-third of Cambodia’s population was born after the Khmer Rouge regime and most of these young people know very little about the regime. In the context of rapid social and economic development, an examination of this past has been taken for granted. There is a possibility that evidence of Khmer Rouge history will not be remembered or discussed among the next generation. Providing a simple and accessible tool for young Cambodians to learn about places of significance for the Khmer Rouge era will be an important mechanism for dialogue about this history to continue.
The webinar will be in a discussion format. It is free and open to the public. To attend via Zoom Webinar, please register in advance: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/1016140445641/WN_EJ72MVXgTMmnmMZ_NSRK2A
