The low pressure area in the western Pacific Ocean has developed into the sixth cyclone, Jangmi (T2606), and is affecting the southwest monsoon regime over the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River Basin, Cambodian Sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. The track of the storm does not affect the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Training Workshop on Professional Writing and Communication

Kampong Cham: His Excellency So Sophort, Secretary General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC), a high representative of His Excellency Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology and Chairman of the CNMC, led
a training workshop on professional writing and communication for officials of the CNMC General Secretariat. This training workshop, took place on June 2-3, 2026, at the Phnom Pros Hotel , Kampong Cham province, with 18 participants (4 women).

The overall objective of this training workshop is to enhance the capacity of the CNMC General Secretariat officials in skills such as writing, minute-taking, reporting, content production for public dissemination, and knowing how to communicate with work teams within the organization in a team-spirited manner, as well as knowing how to cooperate and communicate with Line ministries- institutions, and relevant partners.
At his opening remark, His Excellency Secretary General stated that the lessons, experiences, and specialized knowledge from this training will further strengthen the capacity of young officials to apply in their daily work, including preparing written documents, meeting minutes, aide-mémoires, reports, and communication methods using the English language. These are daily tasks in official correspondence with the MRC Secretariat, the General secretariats of the other three member countries' National Mekong Committees (Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam), Development Partners, and other relevant national and international organizations. in addition, His Excellency instructed the participants to pay more attention, listen, share view/opinions, and engage in group discussions, and expressed hope that everyone would gain specialized knowledge from this course to implement effectively within their organization

The 11th Cambodia National Monsoon Forum in 2026

Phnom Penh: On June 2, 2026, Mr. Cheng Dum, Vice-Chief of the Information and Dissemination Office, IKMD, General Secretariat of CNMC, participated in the Event of 11th Cambodia National Monsoon Forum in 2026, under the chairmanship of Her Excellency Seth Vannareth, Advisor of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the World Meteorological Organization(WMO), high representative of His Excellency Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, with the participation of representatives from relevant Inter-ministries and agencies including, MAFF, MoE, MoH, MoEYS, MRD, MOWA, MISTI, MPTC, MoT, MPWT, TSA, NCDM, SSCA, DPs, CSOs, Research Collaborative Partners (Universities and Institutes), and the working group of MOWRAM, with a total of 40 participants ( 10 women).

The objectives of the forum were to (1) review recent climate experiences and lessons learned (2) present the seasonal climate outlook and strengthen the understanding of El Niño-related risks, and (3) discuss the potential sectoral impacts and management strategies for applicable stakeholders.
