ππ UNESCO's 2026 opens on 8 September, under the theme "Education in the age of AI: Facts | Frictions | Frontiers.
AI is transforming education. During the week, ministers, policymakers, researchers, educators and students will unpack what counts as fact in an age of synthetic knowledge, the frictions AI is creating across classrooms and education systems, and the new frontiers emerging.
Cambodia will be represented at the table: H.E. Dr. Sann Vathana, Secretary of State at MoEYS Cambodia, will speak in the 8 September Ministerial Roundtable's segment on Procuring AI in Education: Deciding in the Public Interest and the Real Cost of Ownership, sharing Cambodia's experience on the global stage.
UNESCO continues to support Cambodiaβs own digital transformation in education. Through our Strengthening Teacher Education Programmes in Cambodia (STEPCam), funded by Global Partnership for Education, UNESCO works with MoEYS to strengthen teachers' ICT and AI competencies. From developing Cambodiaβs national ICT & AI Competency Framework for Teachers to leading the establishment of an EdTech Hub for research and innovation in digital education, UNESCO is committed to help ensure AI serves, rather than replaces, good teaching in the age of AI.
