During the Afternoon Sitting of the House on Tuesday, 14th July 2026, the County Assembly of Wajir adopted the Report of the County Finance, Budget and Appropriations Committee on the Wajir County Programme-Based Budget for the Financial Year 2026/2027.

The House also passed the Wajir County Appropriations Bill, 2026. The Bill provides for the authorization of the withdrawal of funds from the County Revenue Fund and their application towards financing County Government services for the financial year ending 30th June 2027. It further appropriates the sums approved by the County Assembly for specified public services and purposes.

It entails KSH 12,720,757,571 out of the County revenue fund for service of the year ending on 30th June,2027 and appropriation of the money granted.

The 63rd Madaraka Day Celebrations 2026, held at the newly inaugurated Ahmed Khalif Stadium in Wajir County, showcased exceptional unity, patriotism, and national pride among the people of Northern Kenya and, by extension, the entire Republic of Kenya.

As an institution, the Wajir County Assembly warmly welcomes the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, William Ruto, to Wajir County as he presides over this historic national celebration.

On this momentous occasion, we join all Kenyans in commemorating the gains of self-governance, national unity, and shared prosperity. Happy Madaraka Day 2026.

In accordance with the Assembly’s approved calendar, the House convened for its regular plenary sitting on Thursday, 21st May 2026 at 2:30 PM.

During the proceedings, the Assembly unanimously passed, with amendments, the Wajir County Flag, Emblems and Names Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2026 following thorough debate and consideration in line with legislative procedure.

In further business, the House deliberated on and subsequently adopted the Report of the Committee on Public Service, Labour and Decentralized Units, on the oversight visit to sub-county and ward devolved units, asses operationalization,service delivery, staffing and , infrastructure capacity.

The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening devolution, enhancing institutional accountability, and improving service delivery across all wards and sub-counties within Wajir County.

The County Assembly today undertook the First Reading of The Wajir County Flag, Emblems and Names Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

The Bill was subsequently committed to the Committee on Gender, Culture, Children, Sports and Social Services for consideration and facilitation of public participation through memoranda submissions.

The House Business of Wednesday, 13th May 2026 (Afternoon Sitting) recorded a significant parliamentary outcome, as the House unanimously adopted the following Reports that had been tabled during the Afternoon Sitting of Tuesday, 12th May 2026 at 2:30 p.m.:

1. The Report on Public Participation on the Wajir County Annual Development Plan (ADP), 2026–2027.

2. The Report on Public Participation on the Wajir County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP), 2026.

3. The Report of the Sectoral Committee on Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development on the Local Physical and Land Use Development Plans (2025–2035) for Ahmed Liban, Bahati, Bulla Glacier, Hadado Yarey, ICF, Makaror A, and Sunrise 1 (Shokaa) Informal Settlements.

The adoption of these Reports marks a significant milestone in strengthening participatory governance, sustainable urban planning, and prudent fiscal management within Wajir County.

1. Public Participation Report on the Wajir County Annual Development Plan, 2026-2027.

2. The Public Participation Report on the Wajir County Fiscal Strategy Paper, 2026.

IN PICTURES: The County Assembly Service Board (CASB) of the Wajir County Assembly, chaired by the Hon. Speaker Hon. Abdille Yussuf Mohamed, alongside the Clerk of the County Assembly/Secretary to the Board, Hon. Shalle Sheikh Mursal, today conducted an official inspection and benchmarking tour of the newly established Assembly Chamber and adjoining parliamentary offices.

The high-level exercise brought together Board Members, Assembly Principals, and officials from the County Assembly Staff Union to assess the ongoing furnishing, installation of modern legislative infrastructure, and operational preparedness of the new parliamentary precincts.

The ultra-modern Chamber, designed to meet contemporary parliamentary standards and legislative best practices, is expected to significantly enhance plenary proceedings, committee engagements, and the overall ex*****on of the Assembly’s constitutional mandate of legislation, representation, and oversight.

The visit underscores the Assembly’s continued commitment towards institutional transformation, modernization of parliamentary operations, and the creation of a dignified legislative environment befitting the evolving democratic aspirations of the people of Wajir County.
