Pursuant to Section 126 of the Public Finance Management Act (2012) and Section 87 of the County Government Act (2012), the County Government of Vihiga, through the Department of Finance and Economic Planning, successfully conducted a two-day public participation exercise to collect views for the 2026 County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP).

The 2026 CFSP supports implementation of the Third Generation County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP III) and will guide fiscal planning, budget preparation, and programme implementation for FY 2026/27 and the medium term, promoting sustainable development, inclusive growth, and improved livelihoods for Vihiga residents.

The County Government remains committed to prudent resource management and accelerated socio-economic transformation across all sub counties.

Yesterday, Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo officially commissioned the Ebukholi Community Water Project in North East Bunyore Ward, Emuhaya Sub County during the World Wetlands Day celebrations. The project will provide clean and safe water to 180 households and local institutions, improving health and livelihoods.

The Governor reaffirmed the County’s commitment to protecting wetlands and expanding reliable water access across Vihiga. CECM Finance Hon. Onzere Mulongo was in attendance alongside other leaders, highlighting the county’s collective focus on sustainable development.

Through the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Program, more than 20 water projects have so far been implemented across Vihiga, bringing essential services closer to residents.

During a consultative meeting at Vihiga County Headquarters, Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo hosted Prime Cabinet Secretary Dr. Hon. Musalia W. Mudavadi for talks with landowners of the proposed Kidundu Stadium site. Discussions focused on land compensation and relocation to pave way for the construction of a 10,000-seat ultra-modern stadium.
