Yesterday, the world observed the World Fisheries Day 2021 to highlight the importance of ensuring sustainable stocks of fisheries in the world.
In Kenya, the day was celebrated at an event in Kilifi, graced by the Agriculture CAS Lawrence Omuhaka as reported.
At the event, the Community Action for Nature Conservation (CANCO) called for gender equality in the fishing sector, encouraging women to take part in different activities along the fishing and aquaculture value chain, and rallying different stakeholders to recognize and value the role of women in fishing.
