Today afternoon, we gathered at AGC Mulot Grounds in Ilmootiok Ward, Narok West Sub-County for an Economic Empowerment Activity aimed at uplifting women, youth, self-help groups and Persons Living With Disabilities through targeted support and community development initiatives.

During the event, we issued Economic Empowerment cheques to 16 women groups, self-help groups, youth groups and PWD groups, among them:
1. Chepkujun Women Group- Ksh. 50,000
2. Kelyot Self Help Group- Ksh. 50,000
3. Kobor Self-Help Group- Ksh. 50,000
4. Mulot Vision Youth Group- Ksh. 50,000
5. Bethel Chepkona Self-Help Group- Ksh. 50,000
6. Revival Women Group- Ksh. 50,000
7. Olala Self-Help Group (5 Joint groups)- Ksh. 200,000
8. Ilmotiok Lower Commissioners Self-Help Group- Ksh. 50,000
9. Chemaluktany CBO- Ksh. 100,000
10. Kutete Boda Boda- Ksh. 100,000
11. Chepnyaliliet Women Market- Ksh.100,000
12. Tuyobei Kaproret- Ksh.100,000

We also issued 100-seater tents to:

In addition, six 5,000-litre water tanks were donated to benefit:

• Chemagel Primary School
• PEFA Church – Mulot
• Mulot Youth Town Group & Carwash Machine
• AGC Mulot Town Church
• Asenga Secondary School

Further, 60 umbrella shades were gifted to Mama Mboga small-scale traders to support and improve their businesses.

Honoured to be joined by H.E Agnes Ntutu, First Lady Narok County, my colleagues in the National Assembly — Hon. Doris Donya (Kisii County), Hon. Beatrice Kimei (Kericho County), Hon. Linet Toto (Bomet County), and Hon. Pauline Lenguris (Samburu County) — together with MCAs Duncan Bore and Larry Kipngeno of Ilmotiok and Sogoo Wards respectively.

As a members of the Public Investments Committee on Education and Governance, we have raised serious concerns over widespread non-compliance with trainer licensing requirements across Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, following our review of audit reports for the 2021/2022–2024/2025 financial years.

During the scrutiny of the Auditor-General’s reports, several institutions were flagged, including Butula TVC, Khwisero TVC, Webuye West TVC, Tindiret TVC, Tinderet Integrated Technical Trainers College, and Koshin Technical Training Institute.

The Committee underscored the urgent need for reforms to ensure all trainers are properly licensed. Failure to address this gap risks undermining the government’s commitment to strengthening TVET education as a key driver of skills development and job creation.
