OUTSPAN GLOBAL UNIVERSITY VISITS NTRH

NTRH today hosted Outspan Global University on a collaborative visit aimed at strengthening medical education, training, and capacity building while laying the groundwork for expanded tertiary education opportunities in Nanyuki.

The engagement marks the beginning of a promising partnership built on a shared commitment to quality, patient-centered care, research, innovation, and community health responsiveness. As healthcare continues to evolve, both institutions are aligning efforts in leadership development, digital health integration, and holistic training anchored on integrity and professionalism.

The collaboration also supports the broader vision of positioning Nanyuki as a growing tertiary education hub, helping bridge longstanding gaps in access to higher learning opportunities.

NTRH continues to strengthen its role as a center for training, research, and excellence by fostering strategic partnerships that drive transformative change. During the visit, hospital leadership highlighted the importance of data-driven and human-centered research in addressing emerging health challenges and developing sustainable solutions.

With a strengthened research agenda aligned to its strategic plan, NTRH is advancing family-centered research initiatives designed to address real healthcare system gaps and improve patient outcomes.

More than a courtesy visit, this engagement signals the start of a meaningful partnership focused on empowering health workers, advancing innovation, and shaping the future of healthcare and education in the region.

NEW MEDICAL EQUIPMENT BOOST

Technical, administrative, and procurement teams from the hospital and Laikipia Health Service inspect part of newly delivered consignment of medical equipment, marking a significant milestone in the continued strengthening of healthcare services through county support.

The over 80 million shillings equipment will enhance service delivery across key departments, including the Outpatient Department, general wards, ICU, maternity services, and theatre units, supporting the establishment of a more comprehensive, standalone mother and child care suite under one roof.

Also included are specialized equipment to support and expand the scope of neurosurgical procedures, significantly expanding the hospital’s surgical capability and enabling more complex interventions to be undertaken locally. More investments in diagnosis are coming up.

This investment represents a critical step in the sustained buildup of clinical capacity, helping to redefine the scope of services that can now be delivered within the facility. It is expected to ease pressure on high-demand service points such as the shared theatre and reduce the need for external referrals.

Overall, the development reinforces ongoing efforts to improve access to specialized healthcare closer to the community.

WELCOME TO THE MOUNT KENYA ASK SHOW SHOW 2026!

The Mount Kenya ASK Show Nanyuki 2026 officially kicks off today, and NTRH is proud to be part of this year’s exhibition.

Deputy Governor H.E. Reuben Kamuri, while visiting, stopped at the NTRH stand for a thematic walkthrough of our showcase.

We warmly welcome you to our stand for four days of learning, mentorship, discovery, interaction and entertainment, as we showcase our continued growth and expanding range of healthcare services.

This is your opportunity to meet the faces behind our care and interact with departmental representatives from across the hospital — all under one roof. From Health Information and Emergency Services to Public Health Laboratory, Renal Services and many other vibrant units, visitors will get a firsthand experience of the work we do every day.

You will also get a rare behind-the-scenes look into some of our lesser-known but critical teams, including the Theatre Department, as they demonstrate what it takes to support successful surgical operations and quality patient care.

This year’s showcase is bigger and better, reflecting the continuous improvements at NTRH and our unwavering commitment to excellence in healthcare service delivery.

Karibu sana to the NTRH stand throughout the ASK Show weekend for this and much more!

Even as we participate in the festivities, we remain fully committed to our core mandate of healthcare service delivery, with emergency response teams on standby to support any incidents that may arise during such large public events.

NURSES WEEK CLIMAX AT NTRH

Today, NTRH marked the climax of Nurses Week celebrations, bringing to a close a week-long tribute to the dedication, compassion, and invaluable contributions of nurses to healthcare delivery.

H.E. Governor Joshua Irungu, EGH joined the health leadership and nursing fraternity in commemorating the occasion, reaffirming the County Government’s commitment to continued investment in healthcare, particularly in strengthening the health workforce and improving working conditions for frontline staff.

Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Florence Nightingale, whose service during the Crimean War of the 1850s demonstrated the transformative power of nursing on wounded soldiers’ survival, the celebrations highlighted the profession’s enduring values of selflessness, leadership, compassion, and patient-centered care.

The event also provided an opportunity to address key issues affecting the profession, including staffing gaps, workforce welfare, mentorship, career growth, and the importance of constructive engagement with union leadership in building a stronger healthcare system.

As the backbone of healthcare, nurses leave their fingerprints across every level of the health system — from prevention and emergency care to recovery, advocacy, and community health.
The celebrations further underscored the growing role of nurses in healthcare leadership and decision-making, while honoring their unwavering commitment to service.

Accompanying the Governor were LHS CEC Hon. Albert Taiti, Chief Officer Dr. Timothy Panga, NTRH CEO Dr Sammy Kilonzo, County Officials, members of the hospital management team, and the wider nursing fraternity.

STRENGTHENING IPC: PWANI OIL SUPPORTS HEALTHY MOTHERHOOD AT NTRH

NTRH today hosted Pwani Oil Limited for a hand washing education session for mothers, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and promote healthy motherhood through simple hygiene practices at home and in the community.

Mothers play a vital role in protecting newborns whose immune systems are still developing. Proper handwashing remains one of the most effective ways to prevent infections and safeguard infant health.

During the session, the team also donated bathing soap to mothers, reinforcing the importance of everyday hygiene in protecting newborn health.

On behalf of the hospital, the IPC Coordinator, Ms Spelanza Wahome, thanked Pwani Oil Limited for its support and emphasised the value of partnerships in advancing preventive healthcare and community health education.

Small acts such as proper handwashing can make a big difference in building healthier families and communities.
