🌳 Under the Tree Series | Empowering Young Entrepreneurs in Isiolo

For young entrepreneurs, access to the right knowledge and opportunities can make the difference between running a business and growing one.

At Wabera Ward, Isiolo County, the 2nd Edition of the Kenya School of Government’s (KSG) Under the Tree Series (UTTS) is creating space for young people to strengthen their enterprises, connect with opportunities and better engage with government.

A key component of the four-day engagement, running from 24th–27th August 2026, is the Entrepreneurship for Youth Engaged in Small and Medium Enterprises training. The program is equipping young people with practical skills in Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO), business planning and enterprise growth, helping them position their businesses to access opportunities and contribute to local economic development.

Speaking during the launch, Isiolo County Commissioner Chaunga Mwachaunga welcomed the Under the Tree Series to Isiolo and emphasized the importance of investing in young people as the future of the nation. He underscored the need to nurture and invest in the younger generation.

Beyond training, the Under the Tree Series is bringing essential government services closer to residents, including National Identity Card registration, voter registration, SHA registration and information on affordable housing, among other services.

The engagement brings together various partners, creating a shared platform for youth empowerment, enterprise development, citizen participation and access to government services.

The Under the Tree Series Initiative continues to bring knowledge, opportunity and government closer to communities, creating practical pathways for citizens to participate in and benefit from Kenya’s development.

🌳 Under the Tree Series | Strengthening Citizen-Centred Public Service in Isiolo

The 2nd Edition of the Kenya School of Government’s (KSG) Under the Tree Series (UTTS) is underway in Wabera Ward, Isiolo County, bringing government institutions and communities together to strengthen public service delivery, citizen engagement and access to government services.

A key component of the four-day engagement is the Customer Service Excellence Programme for National Police Service Officers, which is equipping 100 officers with knowledge, skills and attitudes to provide professional, respectful and citizen-centred services.

The programme forms part of KSG’s broader commitment to strengthening the capacity of public institutions while creating opportunities for government and citizens to engage directly on issues affecting service delivery.

The engagement brings together the National Police Service, Huduma kenya, National Government Administration, Isiolo County Government, NG-CDF, Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee-IGRTC, National Social Security Fund (NSSF Kenya), Asal Research & Resilience Programme - ASREP - Africa, MID-P, National Industrial Training Authority - NITA, NACADA and other partners.

The multi-agency approach reflects the essence of the Under the Tree Series- bringing government closer to citizens, facilitating access to services, strengthening institutional capacity and creating spaces for meaningful citizen engagement.

Through Initiaive, KSG continues to take public service capacity development and government services to the community, strengthening both the institutions that serve citizens and the communities they serve.

As part of our second edition of the Under the Tree Series – Isiolo County, the conversation takes a new dimension.

This time, our focus extends beyond the community to the team entrusted with ensuring our safety and upholding the rule of law - the National Police Service.

Through this edition, we will train National Police Service officers on customer service excellence, strengthening communication, empathy, integrity and responsive service delivery.

Because building safer communities also means strengthening the institutions that serve them.
