The National Assembly yesterday passed the Kenya Roads (Amendment) Bill by Hon. Naisula Lesuuda. Moving forward, it will be mandatory for all new roads, as well as roads undergoing repair or upgrading, to provide safe, accessible and designated infrastructure for non-motorized transport. That means dedicated cycling lanes, safe pedestrian walkways and clearly marked pedestrian crossings. We congratulate Hon. Naisula for this great initiative.

For far too long, Kenya’s road infrastructure has been designed with motorists in mind, leaving cyclists and pedestrians vulnerable. KANU Samburu West MP Hon. Naisula Lesuuda is seeking to change this through proposals contained in the Kenya Roads (Amendment) Bill.

The proposals seek to make it mandatory for all new roads, as well as roads undergoing repair or upgrading, to provide safe, accessible and designated infrastructure for non-motorized transport. That means dedicated cycling lanes, safe pedestrian walkways and clearly marked pedestrian crossings.

Once passed into law, the proposals will ensure that safe mobility becomes a right for every road user.

A delegation from the Young Conservatives Party of Denmark paid the party a courtesy visit today at the headquarters and were received by officials of the KANU Youth Congress and Campus League.

The meeting explored opportunities for partnership through continuous engagement in nurturing a vibrant and responsive youth leadership.

As center-right, conservative political parties, KANU and Denmark’s Conservative People’s Party share and cherish the values of individual liberty, mixed market economy, and national unity. These values are critical in molding free, secure and prosperous nations.

Hon. Gideon Moi has appointed Mercy Wanyeki, 27, as KANU National Executive Director, making her the first woman to hold the office. The appointment reinforces the party's commitment to reform, youth empowerment, gender inclusion, and institutional renewal.

Having served as Director of Finance and Administration and Assistant International Relations Officer, Mercy has been critical to KANU's restructuring and reorganization efforts. She has helped attract a new generation of members, strengthened party operations, and proudly represented KANU in regional and international engagements.

Her elevation reflects confidence in a young leader who has consistently demonstrated competence, commitment, and a vision for the future of the party. It also marks a historic milestone for KANU as it continues to open leadership opportunities to young people and women.
