As the world commemorate the International Day of Sign Languages, National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) joins partners in celebrating the culture, identity, and resilience of the Deaf community in Bungoma and the Country at large.

Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) is far more than a tool for interaction it is an important expression of identity, belonging, and freedom. Under the Persons with Disabilities Act No. 4 of 2025, KSL is mandated as a primary medium for accessible communication in all public spheres, transforming the constitutional guarantee of information access into an enforceable reality.

Celebrating International Deaf Awareness Week in Bungoma

Today, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) joined partners to celebrate International Deaf Awareness Week under today's theme: Kenya Sign Language Promotion and Public Awareness at Kenya Medical Training Center (KMTC) Bungoma to train KMTC students and teachers on the importance of Kenya Sign Language in promoting inclusive health for persons with disabilities, especially the Deaf community.

Tomorrow is the main day celebrating International Day of Sign Languages join NCPWD and other partners in celebrating the day tomorrow.
