As part of the ongoing 𝐅𝐀𝐖𝐄/𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐙𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐰𝐞, we didn't just review data and project outcomes—we reaffirmed our commitment to the founding principles that continue to guide our mandate.

Today, our delegation had the distinct privilege of conducting a courtesy visit to Dr. Fay King Chung, former Minister of Education and one of the five founding members of FAWE.

It was a powerful full-circle moment. To stand in the presence of a woman who dared to envision a world where African girls have equal access to education is to understand the true weight of our "𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝟒𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞" mandate. Dr. Fay’s legacy is not just history; it is the living blueprint we follow today.

The FAWE delegation is composed of Dr. Martha Muhwezi, Executive Director, FAWE Africa; FAWEZI Board Vice Secretary Madam Caroline Dimingu; Lydia Madyirapanze, Executive Director, FAWEZI; and Wendy T. Muzite, Chairperson of the FAWE Africa Alumni Network.

Meeting the founders reminds us that sustainable change is a relay race. We are running the leg they started, fueled by their courage and wisdom.

As part of the ongoing FAWE-Mastercard Foundation joint monitoring and learning mission in Zimbabwe, a delegation comprising FAWE Africa, Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA) , FAWE Zimbabwe (Fawezi, the Mastercard Foundation and programme participants from Zambia and Zimbabwe paid a courtesy call on Professor Fanuel Tagwira, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development.

Also present was Professor Kuzvinetsa Peter Dzvimbo, Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE), alongside other senior representatives from the higher education sector.

The engagement provided an opportunity to reflect on progress under the Second Chance Pathways for Increased Access to Tertiary Education for Marginalized Young Women and Men Programme and to discuss how partnerships can continue to strengthen inclusive pathways into higher and tertiary education.

𝗔𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗔𝗪𝗘 𝗭𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘄𝗲 (Fawezi), 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀.

The visit was an important learning opportunity, allowing the delegation to hear directly from young people about their experiences, aspirations and the support they have received through the programme. It also provided space to engage with the institution on the role of technical and vocational education and training in creating practical pathways to employment, entrepreneurship and further learning.

Beyond assessing programme progress, the engagement reinforced the importance of listening to participants and institutions as we continue to strengthen inclusive, responsive and sustainable education pathways for young women and men.
