The Nairobi Expressway is a modern transport infrastructure project and a flagship Kenya Vision 2030 initiative designed to provide a faster, safer, and more efficient travel experience.

The 27.1-kilometre access-controlled toll road stretches from Mlolongo and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) through Nairobi's Central Business District to Westlands, serving as a key transport corridor linking major economic, commercial, and residential centres.

Developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the expressway enhances connectivity, reduces congestion, facilitates trade, and improves access to markets and services.

Motorists can travel the entire corridor in approximately 20 minutes at the legally permitted speed of 80 km/h, significantly cutting journey times.

Key benefits include shorter travel times, improved road safety, lower vehicle operating costs, and increased productivity for businesses and commuters. The expressway also supports investment, economic growth, and urban development, advancing the aspirations of Vision 2030.

The Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat today had the pleasure of hosting students and faculty from the Lauder Institute for Management and International Studies at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, for a consultative engagement at the Secretariat's Boardroom.

The visit formed part of the Institute's Africa Immersion Programme, which is exploring the theme "The African State, Society, Economy and Development" across Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa.

The engagements revolved around the role of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat in coordinating, implementing, and monitoring Kenya's long-term development agenda. The delegation were given insights into the progress of Vision 2030, its flagship projects, and the transformative impact of its Economic, Social, and Political Pillars.

The lively exchange provided an opportunity to share Kenya's development journey while fostering meaningful dialogue on Africa's evolving role in the global economy and policy landscape.

We appreciate the Lauder Institute's interest in Kenya's development experience and look forward to continued engagement with global academic institutions as we work towards a prosperous and globally competitive Kenya.

The Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Overpass at the Junction Mall intersection in Nairobi is a strategic urban infrastructure project aimed at easing chronic congestion along one of the city’s busiest corridors.

The development comprises a four-lane flyover, upgraded junctions, pedestrian walkways, cycling lanes, improved drainage systems, modern street lighting, and enhanced landscaping, all designed to improve mobility, safety, and urban order.

Once completed, the overpass is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Ngong Town and the Central Business District, enhance traffic flow, and improve reliability for both private and public transport users.

Beyond easing congestion, the project will strengthen economic productivity by lowering transport delays and costs while improving access to key urban and peri-urban areas. It also aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030 infrastructure agenda by advancing efficient, safe, and sustainable transport systems that support urban development and economic transformation.

As the world marks the International Day of Family Remittances, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), and Financial Sector Deepening Kenya (FSD Kenya) officially launched the 2025 Remittances Household Survey Report, shedding light on the vital role remittances play in supporting Kenyan households and driving national development.

The report provides valuable insights into the patterns, sources, utilization, and socio-economic impact of remittances received by Kenyan households. It reveals how remittances contribute to improved livelihoods by financing education, healthcare, housing, and business investments, while also promoting financial inclusion and economic resilience.

As a key source of household income and foreign exchange, remittances continue to support entrepreneurship, investment, and economic empowerment across the country. The survey provides critical data that will inform policies and interventions aimed at maximizing the developmental impact of remittance flows and advancing the aspirations of Kenya Vision 2030.

The findings also contribute to a better understanding of how remittances can be leveraged to strengthen household resilience, support inclusive economic growth, and accelerate progress towards national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Observed annually on 16 June, the International Day of Family Remittances recognizes the invaluable contribution of migrant workers whose support helps millions of families and communities worldwide improve their living standards and achieve sustainable development.

This morning, Kenya Vision 2030 joined the Africa Capital Week Secretariat in officially launching Africa Capital Week 2026.

The Secretariat comprises the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Kenya Vision 2030, Kenya Development Corporation, Nairobi Securities Exchange, Capital Markets Authority, Kenya Investment Authority, Dalberg, and Lumiinia Capital Group.

The launch was presided over by Mr. Bonface Makokha, Principal Secretary, State Department for Economic Planning, and Mr. Cyrell Wagunda, Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Investments and Asset Management.

Scheduled to take place from 31 August to 4 September 2026, Africa Capital Week 2026 will bring together capital market stakeholders from across the continent to showcase priority investment projects, foster strategic partnerships, and unlock investment opportunities that support Africa’s economic transformation.

As a key priority under Kenya Vision 2030, deepening capital markets is essential to mobilizing long-term financing for development. Africa Capital Week 2026 will serve as a platform to connect investors with transformative projects, strengthen Africa’s investment ecosystem, and advance sustainable economic growth across the continent.

The Mwache Multi-Purpose Dam, located on the Mwache River in Kinango Sub-County, Kwale County, is a transformative water security project designed to address persistent water shortages in Kenya’s Coast region.

Once completed, it will supply reliable bulk water to Mombasa, Kwale, and parts of Kilifi counties, directly benefiting over 1.6 million people. The dam will improve access to clean and affordable water for households, health facilities, schools, and industries; reduce reliance on expensive water trucking; and support irrigation agriculture, livelihoods, and food security.

Aligned with Kenya Vision 2030, the project underpins the Economic and Social Pillars by enabling industrial growth, tourism development, improved public health outcomes, job creation, and enhanced climate resilience, positioning the Coast region for inclusive, sustainable long-term development.
