The Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) has partnered with the National Police Service (NPS) to train 10,000 newly recruited police officers on their pension benefits ahead of their passing-out parade and deployment across the country.

The training session was held at the National Police College Main Campus, Kiganjo, and hosted by Commandant Nyale Munga, EBS. It aimed to equip the recruits with essential knowledge of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme as they begin their careers in the service.

During the session, PSSF officers explained the differences between the former pension scheme and the current contributory pension scheme, how members’ contributions are invested to generate returns, retirement benefit payment options including annuity and income drawdown, the mandatory 7.5 per cent employee contribution, and the importance of beneficiary nominations.

The initiative forms part of PSSF’s ongoing member education programme, which seeks to ensure public servants understand their retirement benefits from the outset of their careers.

Growing a Greener Future, Together!

The Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) was honoured to participate in the 10th Edition of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme, reaffirming our commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible corporate citizenship.
The event, attended by PSSF Chief Executive Officer Dr. Jonah Aiyabei and presided over by H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, brought together government institutions, the private sector and development partners in a shared mission to restore Kenya's forest ecosystems, combat climate change and promote sustainable livelihoods.

The programme also featured a marathon that attracted hundreds of participants, underscoring the event's role in promoting both environmental conservation and healthy living. At PSSF, we believe that creating a secure future for our members goes hand in hand with protecting the environment for future generations.

Through initiatives such as these, we continue to support national efforts towards climate resilience, ecosystem restoration and sustainable development. Together, we are planting more than trees—we are nurturing a greener, healthier and more prosperous Kenya.

PSSF’s membership has reached 529,635, of which 60,322 are civil servants, a base the partnership is designed to expand and bring fully onto PSSF’s digital platform.

The collaboration will focus on registering existing members to the Member Portal, where they can access their pension records and services online.

Amb. Dado also invited Dr Imbunya to the PSSF Pan-African Pensions Conference, set for Nov. 18-20 in Mombasa County.

New pension system promises faster services to public servants!

Kenya’s public servants are set to experience faster, more transparent and more accessible pension services following the launch of the Pension Administration System (PAS), a new digital platform unveiled by the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF).

The system promises quicker processing of pension claims, real-time access to member statements, improved accuracy of records, seamless communication between employers and the Fund, and the ability for members to update their personal records online.

Through a member portal and mobile application, public servants will now be able to access pension statements in real time, track contributions and projected benefits, update beneficiary nominations and initiate and monitor claims remotely.

The system also introduces a sponsor portal for employer institutions, creating a centralised interface for payroll submissions, contribution schedules and member data management – an innovation expected to significantly improve data integrity and reduce administrative delays.

According to the PSSF Chief Executive Officer Dr Jonah Aiyabei, the system will fundamentally improve retirement service delivery for more than half a million members while helping transition pension administration into a fully digital, paperless operation.

The launch, which coincided with PSSF’s inaugural Employers’ Conference, comes just months after PSSF transitioned to internal pension administration, a move designed to strengthen institutional control, improve responsiveness, strengthen accountability and enhance service delivery.

“Together, the two milestones represent a new chapter in Kenya’s pension reform journey, one increasingly defined by digitisation, efficiency and accountability,” Dr Aiyabei said.
Held under the theme “Strengthening Institutional Partnerships for a Sustainable Public Pensions Future,” the conference provided a platform for PSSF and employer institutions – TSC, PSC, State Departments, National Police Service, NYS and Prisons – to strengthen collaboration around pension administration, compliance and member service delivery.

Public Service Superannuation Fund, led by CEO Dr. Jonah Aiyabei alongside trustees Mr. David William Okoth Ochiel and Dr. Philemon Kiprono, commissioned and handed over a CSR project at Konjra Primary School aimed at empowering learners through education and improving learning conditions for pupils.

The project involved the renovation of the headteacher’s office, 9 classrooms, and the construction of 2 pit latrines, helping create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning. Speaking during the handover, Mr. David William Okoth Ochiel emphasized that education remains the greatest equalizer for all Kenyan children.

CEO Dr. Jonah Aiyabei, who was the chief guest during the event, noted that, “I am personally invested in education particularly for younger learners because that’s the most effective way to ensure transformation within our society.”

The initiative reflects PSSF’s continued commitment to impactful community investments focused on education and social development.

11/05/2026

PSSF has commissioned and handed over a fully equipped modern library to Kapcheptoror Primary and Junior Secondary School in Kericho County, in a move aimed at improving literacy and learning conditions for hundreds of pupils in the region.

PSSF Board of Trustees Chairman Amb. Hussein Dado Tuneya presided over the handover ceremony, calling the facility "a door to knowledge and opportunity and to a future that these children can shape with their own hands and minds".

The Fund Financed the structural completion of the library, the installation of bookshelves for learning materials, and the supply of study tables and chairs.

Amb. Dado said the choice to focus corporate social responsibility (CSR) investment in education was deliberate and symbolic. A majority of the scheme's members are teachers drawn from the education sector, making the fund's reinvestment in schools a direct act of reciprocity.

PSSF Chief Executive Officer Dr. Jonah Aiyabei was among officials present at the event.

The Kapcheptoror library project is part of PSSF's broader CSR strategy, which the chairman indicated would continue to evolve. "PSSF will continue to look for meaningful ways to invest in communities that our members call home," he said. "The library is one chapter in a longer story."
