Our onions are 7 weeks old. We did the second and final top dress.
We enjoy the rain, quite the relief for our pockets. Our diesel consumption dropped 50 percent from KES. 4,000 to KES. 2,000.
But rain at this stage is a double-edged sword. On the good hand, it waters the plant and suppress pests.
On the bad hand, the warm moist environment aggravates fungal infections like purple blotch, basal rot, and powdery mildew.
And as agronomists know, diseases are 1000 times worse than pests.
So, we continue to protect and supplement each week using a pesticide, a fungicide and a foliar.
Here is what we spent the week prior:
Previously:
Main-field week 6 (8th - 14th Dec.) 14,749(114$)
