Joining the International Day of the African Child launch in Nakuru, the Rift Valley Regional Director for Probation, Dr. Florence Mueni, delivered the Acting Secretary's speech.
In the speech, the Acting Secretary said that probation plays a role in safeguarding the welfare of children, particularly those who
may have come into conflict with the law.
He observed that "children sometimes make mistakes, but mistakes should not define a child's future. We help children learn from their mistakes and make positive choices for a better tomorrow."
He also affirmed that the Probation, "works closely with parents, guardians, teachers, community members, and other stakeholders because raising a child is a shared responsibility."
"We advocate for alternatives to detention and for opportunities that allow children to remain connected to their families, education, and communities while receiving the support they need to reform and flourish," the Ag. Secretary, PACS.
The activity also brought together various schools, stakeholders from the Judiciary, State Department for Children Services Kenya, the NGAO, County government, NGOs, alongside other actors
