This week, the Norwegian Embassy joined PROGRESS 2026 in Mombasa 💜 The MenEngage Africa SRHR Learning and Exchange Symposium, bringing together advocates, youth leaders, policymakers and civil society from across Africa to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Amid significant funding cuts across the region this year, Norway remains a committed partner on SRHR — because progress on health, equality and bodily autonomy must be protected, not rolled back.

Thank you to Sonke Gender Justice MenEngage Africa and Kenya MenEngage Alliance for hosting an important few days of dialogue and action. 🇳🇴🇰🇪

Strengthening our partnership for children’s rights 🇳🇴🇸🇴
During a recent visit to Mogadishu, the Royal Norwegian Embassy met with the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development to follow up the Somalia Initiative and discuss the next steps in our cooperation.

Together, Norway and Somalia are working to strengthen child protection, improve support services for vulnerable children and families, and build sustainable institutional cooperation. The visit included discussions with Ministry officials and the dedicated team behind Somalia’s national 116 Helpline, which provides support and protection for vulnerable children and women.

The visit also marked the Special advisor for integration Sahfana Ali Mubarak´s final official visit to Mogadishu, while reaffirming our shared commitment to ensuring that this important partnership continues to grow.
We look forward to continuing our cooperation with our Somali partners in support of children’s rights and protection.

Education Transforming Lives
🇺🇳🇳🇴🇰🇪🌍📖
Last week, the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi welcomed education leaders, government officials, and UNESCO representatives from across Africa and beyond for the UNESCO Qualifications Passport Technical Advisory Group meeting.

Since 2019, Norway has been a strong supporter of this initiative, helping refugees and displaced people gain recognition for their educational qualifications so they can continue their education, access employment, and build new futures.

Over the course of the meeting, representatives from five African countries exchanged experiences, explored practical solutions, and strengthened collaboration at a time when displacement is increasing and education systems face growing challenges.

The conversations were a reminder that recognizing qualifications is about more than credentials. It’s about unlocking opportunities, restoring confidence, and ensuring that talent is not lost because of displacement.

Education opens doors. Recognition makes them accessible!📚📖

The Our Ocean Conference has officially come to an end.

We would like to congratulate the Government of Kenya for successfully hosting this important conference in Mombasa, for the first time on the African continent.

Over the past days, the Norwegian delegation has engaged with key partners and discussed shared priorities, including sustainable ocean management, marine pollution, climate change, fisheries, aquaculture and the blue economy.

The ocean is and has always been very important for Norway, and we remain committed to working with Kenya and international partners to promote a clean, healthy and productive ocean for future generations.

Asante sane, Kenya, for a very successful Our Ocean Conference!
