WRS knowledge is reaching more farmers across Laikipia and Uasin Gishu counties through the Council’s Trainers of Trainers (ToTs).

As the second phase of farmer training continues under the AGRA-supported project, farmers in Laikipia and Uasin Gishu counties, sensitized on the WRS concept, key value chain actors and the benefits of the system. By sharing the knowledge gained with their communities, the ToTs are expanding grassroots awareness and driving adoption of WRS.

The Council continues to drive awareness and adoption of the Warehouse Receipt System across key agricultural value chains through targeted farmer sensitization and strategic stakeholder engagement.

Under the Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP), the Council engaged Irish potato farmers to explore onboarding the value chain into the WRS, with a focus on strengthening post-harvest management, reducing losses and improving market access.

In Kiminini Sub-County, the Council, in partnership with the Cereal Growers Association, sensitized farmers on how the WRS provides safe and structured storage, reduces the pressure to sell immediately after harvest and connects farmers to more organized markets.

Meanwhile, the Council’s Trainer of Trainers (ToTs), supported through the AGRA project, have commenced the second phase of farmer training, expanding practical knowledge on the benefits and application of the WRS.

These engagements are strengthening farmers’ capacity to store better, access markets strategically and unlock greater value from their produce, advancing a more structured, resilient and market-driven agricultural sector.

Strengthening Compliance. Expanding Certification.
Compliance is the foundation of a credible, trusted, and efficient Warehouse Receipt System. Today, the Council conducted follow-up inspection visits at Kenya Co-operative Coffee Exporters Limited and Mitchell Cotts to assess progress towards certification and engage constructively with warehouse representatives. The WRSC team noted significant progress in addressing compliance requirements, an important step towards fast-tracking the certification of the facilities.

Expanding the network of certified warehouses is critical to strengthening market infrastructure, facilitating access to structured commodity trade, and building confidence across Kenya’s agricultural value chains.

The commitment remains clear: strengthen compliance, uphold quality standards, and build a more credible, efficient, and resilient Warehouse Receipt System.
