God Answers When We Call
“He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.” — Psalms 91:15 (NKJV)
One of the greatest assurances the believer has is that God is not distant. He is near, attentive, and responsive to the cries of His children. Psalm 91:15 reveals the heart of God toward those who trust in Him: “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him.” What a comforting promise! God does not ignore the prayers of His people. Heaven listens when the righteous call.
There are moments in life when burdens become heavy, doors seem closed, and answers appear delayed. Yet in those very moments, God invites us to call upon Him. Prayer is not a religious routine; it is communion with a loving Father who delights in responding to His children. Sometimes His answer comes through peace, wisdom, strength, open doors, or divine intervention, but He always answers according to His perfect will.
Notice also that God did not say, “I will keep him from trouble,” but rather, “I will be with him in trouble.” The presence of God in the storm is greater than the absence of storms. Even when fire surrounds you, His presence sustains you. Just as God was with Daniel in the lions’ den and with the three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace, He remains faithful to stand with His people in difficult seasons.
The verse continues: “I will deliver him and honor him.” God is not only interested in bringing you out; He is also able to restore, uplift, and honor you after the battle. What the enemy meant for shame, God can turn into a testimony. Your present trial is not your final destination.
Jesus echoed this assurance in John 14:13, saying that whatever we ask in His name, He will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Likewise, Jeremiah 33:3 declares, “Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things.” God still responds to faith-filled prayers today.
Do not allow fear, discouragement, or delay to silence your prayer life. Keep calling upon the Lord. The God who answers by fire, the God who delivers, and the God who honors His own is still at work in your life.
Reflection
Are there burdens you have been carrying instead of bringing them to God in prayer?
Do you truly believe that God hears and answers you when you call?
How can you cultivate a deeper and more consistent prayer life?
Prayer
Father, thank You because You hear me when I call upon You. In every season, help me to trust in Your presence and Your faithfulness. Strengthen my heart in times of trouble, deliver me from every snare of the enemy, and let my life become a testimony of Your goodness and honor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
